My favourite Julia Donaldson book!
Bought as a gift for my brother as it is very popular with the school children I work with and happens to be my personal favourite too. If youβve read any other Julia Donaldson books and enjoyed them then make sure youβve got this one too!

A Unique Journey Story
Julia Donaldson continues to prove to be a Genius. Unlike Donaldson's other stories, you could debate this is less character driven, and maybe less likely to engage young kids/toddlers. But this is a story about the journey rather than any particular person. It's unique, special, hugely enjoyable and easily backed up by Axel Scheffler's awesome illustrations. My kids love it, and it's great for kids imaginations. Highly recommended π

Fun story for those who enjoy the author. Good price as this hardback was cheaper than the paperback version.

Know your audience
Another excellent book by Julia Donaldson. I am a childminder for children ranging in age from 3-6years. I find that it is a bit too complex for the 3/4 year olds, however the 5/6 year old 'get' it. The illustrations are beautiful and very detailed, but a bit too 'finicky' for the younger kids. The story is multi-layered, which the older ones 'get' and find very amusing, but it goes over the heads of the younger ones. The characters are fleeting - I have been asked a number of times "But where's 'such&such' gone?" by the smallies. The repetition, typical of Julia Donalsdon's books, changes just as the children get into the swing of it, which the younger kids find a bit frustrating, BUT the older kids get a kick out of the surprise. It's a book the older kids look for often but the younger ones hardly at all. However, I think it's good to expose children to more complex storytelling from an early age. With that in mind, I would suggest that if you're only starting your young children's library/bookshelf then opt for some of Donaldson's other offerings as you will get far more use out of them. If you are extending a decent collection and wanting to push your children's focus and attention-spans, then this is a great book.I'm still giving it 5 stars, because it IS a wonderful book, for the right target audience. Charlie Cook Favourite book is, in fact, one of MY favourite children's books!

Embark on a Literary Adventure
"Charlie Cook's Favourite Book" by Julia Donaldson is a delightful literary adventure that takes us on a whirlwind journey through a cascade of stories within stories. ππ From leaky pirate ships to indignant bears, this captivating tale unfolds with each turn of the page, keeping young readers engaged and eager to discover what happens next.At the heart of the story is Charlie Cook, a young boy who delights in reading his favourite book. But what begins as a simple story about a leaky pirate ship soon evolves into a mesmerizing tale of interconnected stories, where each character discovers a new adventure within the pages of their own favorite book. π’ππ»As the narrative seamlessly transitions from one story to another, we sen are challenged to keep up with the ever-changing cast of characters and plot twists. This clever form of storytelling not only keeps children mentally active and engaged but also encourages them to use their imagination and recall familiar stories they may have encountered in the past. π§ πJulia Donaldson's use of rhyming text adds to the charm of the story, capturing the attention of young readers and drawing them into the enchanting world of Charlie Cook's imagination. πΆ And with Axel Scheffler's vibrant illustrations bringing each story to life, we are transported into a vivid and immersive reading experience that feels as if the characters are leaping off the pages.I found the book to be a captivating and enjoyable read, with its clever storytelling and engaging illustrations. It's a book that appeals to both younger children and older readers alike, offering an enticing blend of adventure, imagination, and literary exploration. ππ

Not the best book out of the series
There's not really a funny or interesting storyline. It just presents small pieces of classic fairytales. My daughters like it, but certainly their least favourite of the great serie.

Autrice e illustratore, una garanzia
Al solito, l'autrice scrive in rime. Le illustrazioni sono bellissime. Insieme fanno una coppia vincente per libri bimbi.
