I was able to program several feedings a day into it to ensure the cat gets food during the day as the raccoons will also take advantage of it at night. The hopper holds quite a bit of food, more than we need to add for the 2 days we are gone and the feeder is working as intended. I was able to weight it down on top with several bricks and there is no way a raccoon can drag it off now. I won't need it all the time but its nice to have the peace of mind when we are out of town and to know the cat is getting fed (As well as several stray cats in our area). So far its durable, easy to clean as the feeding tray pops off and the quantity of a meal is programmable so I can ensure the cat is fed without over feeding her or every animal within a mile. I have it undercover on a back porch so the weather won't affect it so I can't speak of outdoor durablilty yet but it seems to be solidly built. I am using it plugged in (with battery backup). It also worked consistently with the battery (no issues with short-changing the cats on food). I think it uses a proper mechanical dispensing system, not one that relies on a rubber band, so dispensing seems to be quick and consistent. In the digital age, it would be lovely if there was a low level warning. The only think I don't really like is the very loud beep with every push of the buttons to adjust clock, time, meal sizes, etc. Otherwise it is easy to use. The instructions that came with it were helpful. The best benefits: the cats don't wake me up early anymore (unless I let it run out of food). I am using one feeder for three cats. It holds food for more than one week but I now make a habit of filling it weekly. When I am on holidays, this gives my cat sitter more flexibility on when she comes to check on the cats.
