A learning powered read
This book brilliantly explains how BLP is the product of worldwide research into learning and learning habits and how its principles can be used effectively in schools . It supports all teachers, regardless of their previous BLP experience, it can help you if you are intending to make a start and also provides guidance and strategies for established BLP led schools looking to develop further. This is required reading for every classroom practitioner and if there is anyone who is not yet familiar with BLP this book will challenge assumptions and present an evolving scientific approach to real learning.

Get it, Read it, use it!
An insight into ideas surrounding Learning and Schools that challenge, ask questions and try to have a real look at what matters, why it matters and what some people can, and are, doing about it. Examine the real aims and objectives of our work, boil it down to that which really matters, strip out all the detritous that is clogging potential and stifling transformation. Read, Think, Action.

Good read.. but ..
I read this book out of interest in education and learning.Pros:1. Written by teachers for teachers.2. Powerful ideas3. Good implementation framework.Cons:1. Verbose and long winded. Too many words. Written by someone who loves to deliver long lectures - and the word most associated with lectures - well its 'boring'. Reads like someone who loves to read their own words has had a ton of free time and good computer. Looks as if the book publishers mandated a lot of padding to make the book pass the 'thump test' (how well a book makes a thump sound when slammed to the desk in front of a skeptical reader).2. Can be culled down to about 100-125 pages of truly dense and high impact read.3. Tends to treat readers as imbeciles at times.4. The writers tend to go off on tangents too often. The authors explain an idea and support that with examples and anecdotes that, very often, take on a life of their own - and the original idea is lost on the reader!5. No chapter summaries - you have to plod through the entire chapter that may have only 6-8 major points.Remember this book is targeted towards teachers - and teachers never have enough time.

Grab this while you can
This is a practical tool for building learning powers within school culture. There are plenty if ideas and examples of how this has already been done in other schools. A great go-to book!
