Tube Amp Doctor 6L6GC STR Premium Selected Vacuum Tube, Matched Pair

I purchased a matching set of four 6L6 tubes for my vintage Fender Twin Reverb from a Tube Amp Doctor distributor called Amplified Parts near Phoenix Az. The new tubes and some service work by my tech, and the amp sounds better than I can ever remember -- I've been playing through this same amp for more than 35 years. The shipping was free by standard US mail, so I expected to wait four or five days for the tubes to arrive. To my surprise, they arrived in only two days by priority mail, no extra charge. I took them to my amp tech, who recommended Tube Doctor to me, and he put them in and biased the amp. He said they are "really good tubes." Tube AmP Doctor sells several different kinds of 6L6 tubes, and so they have a chart which helps you find the type with the characteristics you are looking for. This was helpful, although the commonly-used adjectives, such as "crunch" and "chimey," really don't mean much to me. I ended up choosing the 6L6GC STR type because it seemed most like what my amp originally had, and I always liked the sound of it just fine. I recommend Tube Amp Doctor, and the distributor, Amplified Parts, to anyone who needs parts for a tube amp.

My amp was perfectly working before I switched to this tube. I heard something popped and it went on standby mode. No sound.Now I have to take it to an amp tech and all are closed because of the pandemic. Do not buy!

These tubes have a warm buttery sound in my Fender Quad reverb. The bias was easy to set and they sound great.

Tubes really do sound better than the rattling jj tubes.

Received an old Fender Champ (1980’s) amp as a gift. Original tubes in place. Significant buzzing, crackling & whine. Much improved after changing preamp tubes & substituting these for power tube.

BEST PURCHASE EVER for my Valve King amp. Easy to install and solved my problem with my amp fading in and out. Excellent sound!

Used these 6L6's in a stereo amp in EL34 sockets to get a less harsh more mellow sound. Biased out fine, really sound great!
