SSD's are the only way to go for boot drives
I bought the 256GB version to replace an ATA-5 40GB laptop drive in my ancient Compaq Presario 1500. After eighteen years, the ATA-5 drive had developed bad sectors but I couldn't find a replacement anywhere (obsolete technology). The best I could do was visit the forums where I found that mSATA drives now existed and there were frames available which would let them cram into a laptop IDE interface. All my other computers use SSD's for boot drives with SATA's for data storage so this was definitely the way to go. The 256GB only formatted to 131GB - my best guess is that the obsolete laptop bios was the limiting factor. Still, it worked and it boots to a login screen in 30 seconds. That is compared to the bad sector HDD that took SIX MINUTES to get there, and then consistently crashed at random intervals. I would give it five stars if I could have gotten all 256GB but I'm glad for what I got.

Size is less than 256GB
The disk appears to work fine, but the size is less than 256GB by any measure. From "fdisk -l" on linux:Disk /dev/sda: 236 GiB, 253403070464 bytes, 494927872 sectorsUnits: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytesSector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytesI/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

Interface Issues Prevented Using the SSD
A two-star review might be somewhat harsh, but there is a reason for my rating. I was unable to use the RECADATA SSD in my Asus VivoPC.Apparently this SSD does not have a standard SATA interface. This might not have been an issue if I could have found the proper interface adapter. However, even Amazon Technical Support was unsure what adapter might work. They suggested an interface adapter and I purchased it. However, it clearly wasn't made for this SSD as it didn't fit the drive. I wound up returning both the SSD and the adapter.Be aware that, if you purchase this SSD, you might need to find the right interface adapter before you can use the RECADATA SSD in your PC.
