I live in central FL, lightning capital of the US. I got tired of lightning strikes taking out my cable modem, my router, my switch and occasionally the Ethernet on my motherboard. So I bought these and installed them as an optical isolation break between my modem and router. 3 years on they are still working and I’ve had one modem toasted - but only the modem. I am switching to fiber Ethernet into my house so these no longer serve a purpose, but I thought I’d leave a review to praise them for the last 3 years of protection

A true Bi-directional media converter with included connectors...Bidirectional is so much better than using two fiber strands! received this an hour ago...and already have my switch reconnected...speed is right at 1ghz. This really cuts the cost and guesswork. works perfectly with os2 single mode cable and the armored outside cable as well...I couldn't be happier---will be ordering two more tomorrow!
