Digitally re-mastered edition of this Classic Rock album that has stood the test of time. A blend of classic Blues-based Rock fused with Soul, Funk and occasional heavier elements it marks the crowning glory of Trapeze. Recorded in 1970 just as the band changed from being a five piece to becoming a power trio (Glenn Hughes, Mel Galley and Dave Holland). with hindsight, you could say Trapeze were something of a budding super group with Hughes later joining Deep Purple, Galley joining Whitesnake and Holland joining Judas Priest. Medusa the album was written by the band members and produced by John Lodge, of the Moody Blues, and released on the Moodies own Threshold label. Ork.

My Local Band
This is my favourite Trapeze album, as they were local lads they used to perform at the Forum hall in Cannock a few miles away, me and my mates used to walk there and back to watch them every time they were in town, when I saw this cd for sale I was over the moon, they don't make real music like this these days, brilliant.

Classic from an underated band
Amazing change from the first Trapeze album. Slimmed down to a three piece power trio incorporating soul & funk into a heavy rock setting. Great vocals from Glenn Hughes. Galley on guitar and Holland on drums cannot be faulted. Perhaps some of the songs are a little stretched. The track "Medusa" is a rock classic. This album and the next "You Are The Music" are gems from an underrated band. Later versions of Trapeze (with/without Hughes) would unfortunately never get near this level again

70`s Classic
I do not know why but this is an album I have never heard. (gasp) well boy I sure missed a corker! I remember buying `You are the music` in the early seventies and I loved it from the bus journey home to the second my hand eased the record arm into the shiny black plastic groove,( I still have the album).knowing what the third album ( you are the music )was like all those years ago. I thought I would treat myself to the second and its almost a continuation, again Im over the moon. Funky rocky souly class! Glenn, Mel,(RIP)and Dave. well done chaps ..

A very worthy album
If you find yourself in this Amazon back water, then you might find a few well chosen words of comment on this Trapeze album helpful. If you rate albums such as Judas Priest's Sad Wings of Destiny, or early Black Sabbath, then this will appeal. Comparison with Sad Wing's is very apt indeed to my mind, Trapeze must have been an inspiration for a young Judas Priest, the two bands sound very similar indeed here. Let's not forget also that Dave Holland, Trapeze's drummer, ended up filling the drum stool for the very same band many years later. Hughes went on, as you will certainly know, to join a certain Deep Purple for Burn, Made in Europe etc. and certainly revived their sound no end. Medusa is a little gem that deserves respect. Buy it. I am certain that if you can relate to the music above and have yet to discover Trapeze, then you won't have any regrets.

Glad I Discovered This band!
I was too young to be into music until the 80's, so I did not grow up listening to this era of music. I did listen to some 70's rock, but only the stuff you heard on the radio. But I have been a huge music fan for most of my life. I have not been much of a fan of most modern music and really can only name a handful of bands I like from the last 10 years. I listen to all genres some, but mostly rock. I started listening to a lot of lesser known and even some almost unknown British rock/prog rock bands from the early 70's lately. This is one of the bands I discovered during this process. It is really a great album IMO. I do know of Glenn Hughes from some of his other work, but never really did any research on him to discover Trapeze. I think this is the best album from them, from everything that I have listened to anyway. This is good ol classic rock n roll! My only regret is there are only 7 songs on this album! It is just refreshing to hear some old material that I have never heard before. Give it a listen!

Wow
The first time I was ever exposed to Trapeze was the title track from Medusa. I thought it was amazing as a song. I was born a decade after Trapeze, and being a child of the 80s, I was exposed to music, but Trapeze was pretty much an unknown band to me until recently. No regrets in discovering them, I wish there were more albums made with Hughes/Galley/Holland. I guess it's unfortunate that won't ever happen, but the albums that are out there are gems.

Still today One of my Favorites !
Its just amazing that this baby came out in the early 70s. Glenn Hughes and Mel Galley in their younger days, setting the stage for what was yet to come in their careers. Glenn is still stellar today with Black Country Communion. Whats crazy is as a teenager I kept waiting for them to do a follow-up album that was just as good but it never came. Trapeze played some big arenas with some big bands in the day, how jealous am I that I never got to see them. I can still remember the first time that I heard this album, and the impact that it made on me, I knew then that I was listening to something special.

Fantastic CD
Trapeze had several different bands due to members going elsewhere. In my opinion the Medusa album was their best.

Medusa - Trapeze
Medusa was the 2nd release for British rock band Trapeze and their first as a trio after losing two of their original members. This CD version of that vinyl release is on Threshold records - the label that was created by The Moody Blues and, not surprisingly, it was produced by Bluesman John Lodge. There are only seven tracks on this CD. Most of the songs run between four and six minutes long with the exception of the overdone opus "Jury" which exceeds eight minutes. For those of us who remember what rock music was back in the 1970s (this album's original release date was 1970) that was typical.Three of the songs on this CD stand up to repeated listening; "Black Cloud", which was released as a single (but only in the USA), "Touch My Life", and the title track "Medusa". The remaining tracks are not memorable at all. Funny thing about the title track is that the basic guitar riff seems very similar (at least to my ears) to that of Nazareth's "Hair Of The Dog". One other things about this CD is that all of the tracks seemed to have a muffled sound. I don't know if that was by design or just a byproduct of remastering for the CD.Whether you should buy this CD or not will depend on if you really love 1970s British hard rock or if you just want to know what Glenn Hughes was up to, musically speaking, before he was invited to join British super group Deep Purple and share vocal duties with David Coverdale.
