The statement that it's impossible to turn the subtitles off on this DVD is untrue. It's fairly obvious how to select the English language option and turn off the subtitles as appropriate, even if (like me) you don't speak Spanish. Simply select 'Audio' from the main menu, then 'Ingles' for 'English'. Then select 'Sin Subtitulos' for 'Without subtitles'. Once these are done, finally you can select 'Ver Pelicula' for 'Watch Film'. About halfway through, until the end, the words and pictures do become slightly out of sync, which is unfortunate, but that can't be helped.

As a movie, I would give The Wicked Lady a 4-star review thanks to a superb all-star cast.However, apart from some dodgy sound & a visible print deterioration on the right-hand side of the screen that's noticeable throughout, the Spanish subtitles cannot be removed when listening to the original English soundtrack.Such a shame

Advertising on Amazon UK, needs to be more specific on the language options, hence the lower stars. I knew I was buying a Blu-ray originating from Spain, but mentions English language option. Note: this Blu-ray comes with 3 language options: Spanish, Spanish with Spanish subtitles???, and English). But the English language option only comes with Spanish subtitles still. And the removal then of the subtitles has been disabled.Not like other blu-rays I have purchased from Amazon which have originated from Spain, that have an English language option and then also the ability to disable the subtitles. A good film nether the less, but spoilt a bit of having Spanish subtitles appear on the screen with the English language option.

I used to have this on vhs and thought I'd get it on dvd. A good story based on some factual events. A reasonable remake, but spoilt by the fact that you can't turn off the Spanish subtitles, which is distracting.

An evil lady in 1800 England, with some great scenes and lovely scenery, even if I don't like Faye Dunaway... Fine picture quality, but the lip sync (for the english sound) is sometimes very off!

not bad, remember it from years ago

English plays out of sync, very disappointed as I have been looking for this film for awhile on dvd. The film is brilliant just a shame that it is out of sync.

Absolutely loved this movie. I had been trying to find this one for quite awhile. Highly recommended.

A wonderful wacky version of The Wicked Lady. I've always loved this movie despite the fact that nearly everyone over-acts. The costumes are beautiful and Tony Banks' musical score has been a favourite ever since I bought the LP years ago. Overall quality is exceptional!! All in all, a very enjoyable romp.

Bad casting not a good movie

An older movie, but good entertainment. Not for younger audiences!

A fun romp of historical fantasy not to be confused with reality or to be taken seriously. On 4k the picture is super/so is the whip fight. Marina practice before your next whipdown.
