The Piece de Resistance of the entire series.........
this book ties up all the loose ends from the other 5. However, the way it ends could leave you to believe that maybe there is going to be a seventh book in the offing.Anyway, back to the plot.......Will and Elliot are back at the Pyramid where Elliot suddenly feels a strange compulsion to follow some instinct she has (maybe it's because she's part Styx). Along the way, they meet up with the little Bushman again who opens the pyramid. Inside there appears to be nothing but Elliot knows different......something is pulling her towards a lost artifact which she MUST retrieve at all costs. So off Elliot and Will go into who knows where! Shh......can't say anymore it would be a spoiler. In this last book several of the characters who we have known from book one are sadly killed. Chester has gone mad with grief from losing his parents and vows revenge on Danforth so he leaves Parry and goes off with Martha the old Cannibal who has managed to somehow tame some 'Brights'. Stephanie follows them and is told by Chester exactly what Martha does and how over-protective she is of him. He warns her to keep out of Martha's way and not to be too friendly with him in front of her. Will is attacked by Hermione and when he wakes he is back home underground with his Mother but why is he craving the dark all the time and why does Bartleby 2 suddenly go off him? This was a brilliant series of books, I suppose you would label it as sci-fi genre. Quite how two authors can co-write is beyond me but they have done the literary world proud.I for one, am sorry that this was the last book...........or as I said earlier, is it???????

A great - if occasionally disturbing - read
Myself and my teenage son have shared the buying of this entire series. For his part, he enjoyed every single book without complaint - this being ideal for mid-teens upwards.Basically, it's a tale concerning a secret underground society that has unpleasant plans for us surface dwellers. The plot is full of twists and turns, can be totally ruthless, sometimes horrific, and even pretty disgusting. Beware, there's no Hollywood-style feel good factor about this particular story. The authors are totally realistic when it comes to mortality rates, and heroes get hit every bit as bad as the villains.Parents should know that there is use of bad language, guns and explosives. While this makes for exciting and adventurous reading for teens and adults, I certainly wouldn't have bought this for my son had he been any younger.Oh, one reviewer did complain about the unscientific aspect of this series (ie. that the Earth is hollow and there seems to be no apparent mechanism for providing gravity). I don't know if he bought any more books in this series - but it's all satisfactorily explained in the end.

A Happy Surprise
What started at an airport as a holiday read left me gripped and eagerly awaiting more! I have followed this series all the way from the beginning, every now and then checking with anticipation for the next in the series to be released, the narrative is superb, and I just fell in love with the universe the authors have managed to craft. These books were wonderfully done, and I'm deeply saddened to see them end, a marvellous journey throughout, and I can heartily recommend them

Final book of the series
The final book in the series sees Will and friends work against the Styx and the final battle to save mankind. Easy read although you do need to read all the books in the series to get the background story. I found myself a little lost at times as it has been a whilst since the last book was released. Time to read all the books from the beginning.

Fast and very unexpected
a little disappointed with the last book and the way it developed so was not expecting to enjoy this one so much. It was worth the wait, fast moving suprising, sad and unexpected. Glad to see that it finished with a twist. Will we get a follow up. I hope so.

Opinion of a fan by Moses Omeogo
After I finally received the book and hold it in my hands I was more then exited for the final chapter of the tunnels series. Even though some characters died during the final clash, the book still had its grip. I was very enthusiastic about the ending and couldnt wait until the last pages. But I must say I was kind off disappointed with the ending SPOILERS. I mean aliens, really? There could have been something more awesome. It was a bit of a bummer but the book sill held its promises. A very well and originaly written novel/series that I enjoy to read every time, which provided an epic conlcusion and a good ending. Not a perfect one but it was acceptable. To my suprise the authors even gave us a a little cliffhanger ;)

A wonderful end to a great series
A wonderful end to a great series, for kids or adults. Be sure to read the rest of the series, starting with 'Tunnels'. I bought the entire hard covered set and have read the series 4 times!

tolle Fortzetzung

Great book to end off a great series!
The book was a little on the shorter end but I loved it just like I loved all the other books in the series. The stor was smart and lept you on the edge of your seat. Wish the series continued!!

Hurry up and end this, we ain't getting any more money.
The books have all followed a somewhat reasonable plotline, given that we are in the Sci-Fi realm, but this ending is just completely ridiculous.SPOILER ALERTLet's just kill off Chester, and make him look like a maniac. Sure Martha will just fly off with her Brights, into the sunset. But the biggest laugh riot is that we find out in the last 20 pages that the earth is a giant spaceship that is wrenched out of orbit and now heading home? Sucks for the 7 billion on the surface. This might be the worst ending to a series that I have ever read. I'm only giving it a 2 star because the complete sellout starts at the end of the book.

DIssapointing
I thought that the Tunnels books were absolutely amazing. They have been the best series that I have read in a long time UNTIL I read this book. I thought that the 5th book kind of changed the direction in which the series was heading, but it wasn't too weird for me and I absolutely loved it. However, when you add certain (SPOILER) extraterrestrial elements into this kind of book it just ruined it for me. The series was absolutely amazing and didn't need anything like that in it at all. I was very disappointed by how the series ended. It's like I wasted my time reading through all 6 of them. But I have to admit a lot of great series have a disappointing last book, so it should have been expected.

Great Book But Cliffhanger Ending
SPOILER ALERTJust finished reading the entire six book series in two weeks. The whole series was extremely well written and I loved all of the books. I thought this final book was quite good. However, being the final book in the series, I can't believe the major cliffhangers at the ending. There were planet-wide concerns, concerns over Will and Elliot's future relations, Eddie questions, and a few others. What were the authors thinking when they left it like that? By the way, this book or any book in the series, is in no way appropriate to be a children's book. The massive death of millions of people in numerous horrible and violent ways precludes this book from being appropriate for anyone who is not old enough to get a driver's license. Just my opinion!

Huh!
I found all the twists and turns confusing and mostly unnecessary to the story. All along I thought the authors did not have a clear direction that the story was going to take and they just wrote what popped into their minds as they went. The first book started out as a good teen read but as the series progressed it has deteriorated into a dissapointment. I also think they left things so that they can write another book. What happened to the bushman, the Germanian brothers and what is this, Will now is turning into a Styx?I must say the writing was good enough to keep my interest enough to keep going in the series.

what!!! this can't be the end!!!
Guys the story is amazing, but this can't be the end! There are so many questions left to answer. Is Will a Styx, will he find Elliot again, where is the planet going, where is home? These are just a few. I loved the twist and turns of this series. I was always ready for the next book to come out. If this is truly the ending then I will be disappointed. There is more left to tell. Please close the series out properly guys. I have loved this series all the way through please don't ruin it by leaving so much unwritten.

Final book in the series ?
This is the final book in the series. The author is able to maintain suspense through out. The resolution is held back until the last 100 pages. The reader is unable to figure out how this story will end. It doesn't have a totally "feel good" ending and this reader is left wondering if there will be a sequel. The book shifts from fantasy to science fiction and might develop into something like the never-ending Star Wars series.

Meh..
I had really mixed feelings about this series. Some of the books were better than others and there were high points and low points. Some things went severely downhill with this book though. There were some really disgusting parts that were disappointing to see in a juvenile fiction book and I had mixed feelings about the ending.

WARNING (Slight Spoiles)
I loved every book in this series. Of all the series, this one was one of the most heartfelt, (I almost wanted to cry toward the end of both sorrow and happiness). I truly believe that the ending was perfect, as it brought together the entire series. However, I do wish there was an epilogue or something at the end, and that Will and Elliot get back together, soon. As a 12 year old, I did find parts of this seems somewhat gruesome, but I just couldn't resist the adventure!
