When a dead body is discovered in the English Channel tunnel, exactly midway between England and France, a detective from each country is appointed to work the investigation. The two officers must must work on their own partnership as well as track down the criminal. Stephen Dillane and Clemence Poesy star. It is a fairly faithful re-make of Scandinavian hit The Bridge.

A 5-star season
Twisted ideologies, revenge, spies, terrorism, the perils of love, and the vulnerability of high-tech equipment all play a role in this second season of "The Tunnel."It starts as a kidnapping case but quickly goes beyond the boundaries of a straightforward police investigation when an airplane is later brought down in the English Channel killing everyone on board.Among those on board: A Polish undercover cop working on a human trafficking case, a Frenchwoman working on a documentary about international arms sales, and a judge with a reputation for going after human rights abusers. Is their presence on the aircraft coincidence?Or the reason it was sabotaged?Clemence Poesy, as French police Commander Elise Wassermann, and Stephen Dillane, as English DCI Karl Roebuck, are brilliant in their roles as the two chief investigators assigned to the plane crash case. While trying to track down the saboteurs who brought down the plane, they are each going through dramatic - and traumatic - events in their personal lives that threaten to make them less effective as investigators.Events that threaten to destroy even their friendship. That adds a level of tension to an investigation that is already pretty tense.A tip of the hat here to the writers who have not only fashioned a well-thought-out plot but who have also taken the time to create interesting secondary characters as well. Roebuck's wife, for example, is struggling with his infidelity in the previous series and - after giving birth to twins - is anxious to get back to work. Wassermann's boyfriend, tired of being shut out of her life, is unhappy. They are among the well-defined secondary characters in this series and they add a great deal to the overall story. The cinematography is well done and the direction of each episode smooth.Taking all these factors into consideration, this is a 5-star season well worth the time it takes to watch it.

Had to own this one!!
My partner and I love this series! Although it is shown on our local PBS channel, following it in " real-time " can be problematic for us as we can't always hear all the words, or the subtitles may disappear before we can finish reading them. Sometimes we like to pause it & talk about a scene we just watched. None of that works watching it in real-time. So we bought both season one and season two to watch at our own pace. It was a worthwhile investment in our opinion. It will be fun to watch again in a few years time when we've forgotten how it all plays out. It is a dynamic-edge-of-your-seat geopolitical thriller, brilliantly acted, fast paced, and keeps your attention riveted from start to finish.

Griping drama. Excellent, but F-bomb is overused.
An excellent series of programs. Unlike the edited version that was shown on PBS, the Blue-ray version includes nudity and a lot of profanity. I am not a prude and don't mind the f-word where it enhances the dialog, but I feel the F-bomb was dropped so frequently that it became annoying. Almost every character used that particular obscenity so frequently that I found it annoying.Except for that one objection, I found The Tunnel to be addictive. Each episode ended in such suspense that I was impatient to watch the next one.

A Show That You Just Never Want To End
Great sophomore season for this show. I was bummed when I saw that it was only 8 episodes long. Got really bummed when I saw the 3rd season was only 6 episodes long. Got the biggest bummed of all when I heard that Season 3 was going to be the last installment of this brilliant show. The chemistry between the two leads in this show is some of the best I have ever seen. I love the writing, the directing, the secondary actors and actresses. IMO, one of the best shows ever made.

Very nice series. Good chemistry between the leads
Very nice series. Good chemistry between the leads. Season 1 delt more with learning about the two main characters while season 2 is a bit more plot driven. Like a lot of European productions, Americans need to listen carefully. Actually good to use close captioning. Anyway, well worth while. The format of each season being a stand alone case is becoming more common, and works particularly well for police series.

But I Love It..Don’t Know if I’ll Watch Again.
I’m really bum that I won't be seeing this in Blu-Ray. and I won't be paying that price for the DVD.so I’ll let my brain wonder in the Tunnel” as to what this last season has brought.but seeing the reaction from some of the reviews. on how bad it is. this third season. I’ll let it rest.so this third season is a mix of convoluted mix-up of why not use your brain once-in-a-while.for a woman like Elise who is so precise in her investigating prowess would let someone overpower herinner-needs. of which she has none so far as we can see from her actions. But I Love It..Don’t Know if I’ll Watch Again.

Another great series
The season 2 story line was good. Enjoyed it a lot and was kept focused on the story wondering about how the 2 characters from 2 different countries would get along with this crime. Looking forward to the next story line.

Really liked all three DVD's in this series and we were kind of sad to know that there were only three seasons. Very good service and prompt shipping from the seller.
