Petmate Vari Kennel II Fashion, 24-inch, Dark Pink/Black

My two cats traveled to Europe from Taiwan in a wonderfully sturdy Petmate cage 7 years ago. When I needed a second cage for air travel for the third cat I have adopted since then, I turned to Petmate again. The cage has arrived, and the verdict is it is not what it used to be. lt took me a while to click all the latches in place, and the materials just don't seem all that strong. In comparison with the one I own, this could be described as flimsy. With the 4 bolts that came with the cage as well as a couple of zip ties I plan to use, I am relatively confident that it will hold up. Still, it is sad to see Petmate has reduced the quality for their so-called IATA-approved travel kennel.

The kennel arrived vey quickly but I must say that it is not as robust as I would have expected. The plastic side clips come in popped far too easily. It does come with 4 metal bolts and 4 plastic washers. I had to resort to cable ties around the clips though. As I'm travelling on an international flight with my normal sized cat I hope it is not roughly handled! I checked with virgin Atlantic who googled the product and confirmed it would be suitable for their airline cargo live animal transports. It does need live animal stickers though which you buy separately. Not too bad but you may need cable ties

I bought this kennel to transport an adult cat from UK to Ireland by place. This kennel was big enough for my cat to stand up and turn around in and was fairly light and sturdy. I notice that some people's reviews are compplaining that the doo is flimsy - I did not find that. The door does move up and down on it's hinges which may give the impression that it's not secure, but it doesn't come off. The added screwes are pretty much necessary as the clips alone won't hold. We flew from Bristol to Cork with Aer Lingus and I had no problems with this case at any point in the journey.

This carrier does not live up to the mark. If has flimsy sides, not rigid plastic as IATA state. The internal space is poor due to closed in roof design and small flat bottom inside. The plastic is easily bent. The clips are pretty useless, with only a couple of milimeters of a tial clip function, easy to ping open, especially amongst other case, cargo, boxes etc. The side bolts are poor and difficult to do up easily. With the weak plastic, useless clips and bolts, I would not be happy to travel with my cat in this. Amazon as usual have been superb with refunding me, as this item is not adequate. Travel kit was not included. Avoid this item. I have managed to find a superb carrier elsewhere.

Quality isn't up to par with a vari Kennel jr. I already have, and done so for 20 odd years, but still it's better than the other kennels out there.

A really good size for carrying a small dog to the vets. It fits perfectly on the back seat and has a place that you can connect the seat belt to which is a really nice touch. It is strong and sturdy and our little dog settles very quickly in it.

An excellent, sturdy, spacious carrier with good ventilation and a strong door mechanism. Meets international airline standards - my cat arrived safe and happy after two back to back 7 hour flights in this carrier. (Would have liked a place to fix a cable tie but not essential).

We used this to export our car from the UK to Singapore. No problems at all and the cat arrived safely.
