Nearly a price too far
Aden is the seventh of this series unless you include the Vignettes and the short novellas, then it is number ten and I have loved each and every one without reservation.I love the darkness and yes, I love the violence. Human life is often dark and violent so why would vampire life be any different? I find the writing so real, so compelling that I have to almost believe that these vampires are real and among us. I doubt they could make a bigger mess of things than we do. In fact I have to admit that I love this series as much as the first seven books of J R Ward's Brotherhood series. The price of less than 290 pages though is a whole other matter. At just over £5.00 it is very nearly a price too high. This is not a paperback, I don't get a book I can stroke, a book with a beautiful colour front cover, a book I can flick back and forth through with ease. This is an ebook that after it's original cost can produce 10,000 as easily and as cheaply as ten. And before someone writes to me and tells me to buy 'real' books then, let me say this. I would love to, but and it is a big but, my very small house was at saturation point nearly three years ago a fact that drove me, albeit reluctantly, into the arms of my Kindle. I thank whichever god pointed me in that direction because now my very powerful Kindle Keyboard holds more books than you could shake a stick at. I don't dispense with my books, they are my loves and my companions who never let me down. I buy many books from many Indie authors but if ebooks become too expensive and over five pounds is too expensive, my loss will also be the loss of many other authors.

fabulous series
I saw this on Netgalley and put in a request - I have all the others which I bought as they came out and hadn't realised there was a new one out. Sadly I got turned down :( ahhh... but I knew I had to have this book - and its great. I've read it twice now. as with all the series its the perfect blend of delicous sexy, arrogant (but not obnoxiously so) vamps, strong ladies, and lots of well written and erotic sex, topped off with a riveting plot. Each book is standalone, but the plots and vamps connect through the serIEs meaning when it ends :( i'll be having a VinA reading fest of back to back books. My favourite is still the first two - Raphael is just so...and perfect for Cyn, and Debbie always manages to stretch out the angst part which I love. All romances need that to balance out the love IMO! This book was as always a perfect read, and i'll be eargerly looking out for more from Debbie.

Brilliant...again!
Yet another superb offering from DB Reynolds. I've read (and re-read) all the ViA novels and love every one of them. I'm still amazed how the author manages to give us new stories each time - as you could be forgiven for thinking that a Vampire is a Vampire, is a Vampire - but not in this series! Must admit I now have a soft spot for Aden which I didn't think I would have when I read the 'teaser' - I think Sidonie is just what he needed! (And I liked her too.) I would so recommend these books to anyone who enjoys this genre. They really are superb stories, with evocative and believable characters taking you on journeys that don't always finish at the end of the book. Bring on the next instalment!

I am disabled and mostly house bound, Amazon has opened up a whole new world of possibilities to me) I absolutely love all the books in this collection and cant wait for the next book to be released.

good continuous of the series, but not sure about the Vamp, Aden....
Hm. This was written in a similar style, but not with the same emphasis on the softer side of a vampire. If anything, Aden kinda scared me! He is cold, distant, has a fondness for S&M and the such....his character is well written if that's the impression to be given. What Aden was good at was being a vamp.Since Lucas destroyed the previous Lord of the Mid West there is an opening for a Lord to replace him. Aden is the front runner. He knows it. His enemies know it. His children know it. He just has to do it. He has a darker power than the other vamps, like Duncan was very empathic....Aden gains power from those who die.Sidonie is a journalist. for the last year shes been "hunting" for the exact location and all the other Intel to reveal who and where a slave house is being run by Vamps. Her friend was killed by the ones who run it. And its not just Vamps. She manages to wangle an invitation to a vamp only event to meet Aden - to ask him what hes going to do about the slavery. He seems far from interested....altho his first thoughts of her was about how her pale skin would look good with a quick whip of his flail....not the way the other Lords thought of their potential hook ups.Aden begins to clean up the territory....even before he is named Lord. He faces challengers, minions, and gain trust from Klemens old children...he needs to go to see Lucas for the test of becoming the Lord....why does he have such a hatred for the slave trade? His trust issues are massive....how on earth can Sidonie get him to trust her?And the biggest question....can Aden actually become the Lord? Will he be accepted?Sad this is the last book of the series for now, and am looking forward to the next one to be released....the epilogue left it open and interesting!

another good read
Have been waiting ages it seems for the next book in the series. Aden was a much tougher character than the others. His hard life before his change was understandable. The female character was less interesting. She was weaker than other female leads in the other books. I found her frustrating and felt she needed more backbone! But I still love the series and will be waiting in antcipation for Vincent.

Another Great One!!
Every avid reader seems to have a "go to" book or series. A comforting, friend you can turn to when you need a pick me up or two. This series is my "go to". I love the writing, characters, the unique world the author has created, and last but certainly not least, these very alpha male vampires. And Aden is no exception. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Aden. We've seen small snippets of him in Lucas and Hunted. His first impression was not a great one. But having now read his story, I can see why. Like most of these vampires, Aden has issues. His are trust issues, especially where women are concerned. He wants nothing to do with women, at least not outside of his bed. After the death of Klemens, the lord of the Midwest, his territory is now up for grabs. Only the strongest vampire will be able to take the territory and hold it. With the vacancy, the vampire council has convened in Chicago, to observe the challenges, and to welcome the new lord. Raphael, lord of the west, has a vested interest in who this new lord will be. He has been strategically aligning all the current and new lords into a cohesive unit. He needs to make sure this new lord will work with the current sitting lords. He has heard rumors of things that might be heading for North America, and he wants to make sure that each territory is held by a strong vampire. Aden is the front runner for the job.Sidonie Reid, is an investigative reporter. She has spent the last six months gathering evidence of an underground slave smuggling ring, run by the local vampires. After the death of one of the girls, a girl Sid had befriended, she is determined to make sure the new vampire lord, hears her out, and shuts down this slave ring. So she has been getting advice from a professor on the ins and outs of vampire society. She met a vampire and wrangled an invite to one of the highest of vampire galas, a formal meet and greet before the start of the competition. She wants a private word with Aden, who she suspects will in fact be the new lord. The last thing Aden needs or wants is a distraction. Being distracted before going into battle, can get a vampire killed, even one as strong as Aden. And Sidonie, is most definitely a distraction. He'll have to get this meeting with her over and send her on her way so he can get back to the business of becoming the new Lord of the Midwest. Or so he thinks. After just one meeting with Sid, he cant seem to keep her out of his mind, and actually doesn't mind spending time in her company. Which just confuses him more. Aden doesn't trust women, any women. This was a great addition to the series. After learning more of Aden's past, you can understand where his trust issues stem from. It's not a pretty story, but one that needed to be told. And with Sids help, hopefully he can learn to trust again. We get a much clearer picture of why Raphael has been up to gathering allies. And in which direction the series may be going after we meet our next vampire Lord Vincent. I can't wait.

Excellent!!!!
Wow this was an excellent story. Well I was angry with Aden about 80% of the book but I loved the determination in Sidonie yo bring him where he wanted... Almost . Maybe other book houses were too naif to think the Vampires of DB Reynolds are too violent but I don't want stupid loving vampires I left them for the teenage girls that sure enjoy that kind of characters in story. After read about "Kagen" help with the art of Aden's Vampires I would like to see the art works I expect DB Reynolds share them one day. I can't wait for Vincent this is taking a good tourn around for the future books.
