Removes the tightest mats
I have a St. Bernard who gets mats behind his ears, under his chin and where his legs rub his torso, the usual sites. I have tried snipping with scissors, using a Wahl clipper and other brushes, combs and fur tools, which just pull his skin and seem like torture. This tool is fantastic and works easily without him noticing at all.All you do is work it like a comb, but rock it back and forth beneath the matted area and it cuts through the base, pulling the whole thing out in one piece, and the pup is none the wiser. It doesn't pull the skin and the tips of the tool are blunt so he doesn't mind.**SAFETY TIP** (I noticed this in other reviews and am glad I did) Please be careful removing the hair because you will be cut by the blades - they look innocent enough but they are sharp and will injure you, so don't grab the fur like you would from a regular dog brush! This is the reason this tool works so well. Hold onto the protective plastic cover that snaps over the head when you're done.I got ALL of his mats removed in a matter of minutes and I am overjoyed - I thought I was going to have to take him in, or otherwise just hold him down and force him to endure more sessions with the electric clippers. Not anymore. Now I can take care of them immediately. Now I just need a way to get his nails trimmed down that doesn't bother him and I'll be all set..

This is a must-have, especially for challenging areas difficult to routinely brush.
This tool is amazing and lightyears better than any other dematting tool used on my longhaired cat. Just go slow and be patient with care, because it is sharp. It has to be after cutting through two tough matts I haven't been able to safely remove myself. Even if you can't get it the first time, it'll still make leeway and set you up for future attempts. I can't believe how well this thing works. I did apply a tad of detangler beforehand, which likely helped. If you're reading this review in need of something to remove matts, you won’t regret giving this a try.

Quality tool for larger matts
1. Vet suggested this for grooming my golden retriever. 2. I’m a “lefty” so am getting somewhat used to operating this STIIL. 3. It’s effective on her “feathers” and hind quarters (she pretty much swims daily...or 1-4 times a day to be accurate ~ hence the matting)4. I still have to cut out some mats but it very well may be my own lack of understanding how these work. She has fine “baby hairs” that mat and aren’t gotten at all with these. 5. Would I repurchase? Probably. They ARE well made, will last many lifetimes and are now part of my dog’s grooming toolbox 🧰

Amazing for my tiny Pom’s thick coat
He loves it—actually adores being groomed now. Every single snag and mat comes out so easily and gently. I had bought another very expensive set of combs and dematting tools and I saw this one and bought it on the off chance I might need it. This was our first Pomeranian puppy and I was nervous about taking care of a dog with an undercoat. We had only really had Maltese and they don’t have undercoats and don’t shed. So this was a whole new experience. After a lot of research, I had bought the “top” brand grooming tools and in the end found they didn’t do much at all for his coat—not like this comb. When you use it you barely even notice you’ve hit a snag or a mat bc it’s so gentle and takes it out so easily. I was so impressed. I don’t use the other ones at all—I don’t even remember what I did with them tbh lol. I just use this one, and a metal comb finishes (evens out) and fluffs up his fur after a thourough run thru with this comb and a nice soft bristle brushing. Grooming this baby has been a breeze with this comb and I’ll never ever change comes for dematting him!

Game changer for a long-haired husky!
We have tried multiple other grooming products on our long-haired husky many of them work well but not efficiently. Our dog hates being brushed and she did not mind this! truly easy to use and removed her mats quickly. This grooming tool is a total game changer.

Unbelievable!
I don’t have time to write reviews on everything I buy - but this product DESERVED a review! I have a 10lb Maltipoo and a lot of her hair is very curly and gets easily matted. Being home in quarantine right now - we haven’t been able to take her to the groomer so we have been resorting to home grooming techniques- which so far, we haven’t been that great at - my poor girl. We were worried that we were going to have to shave her down bc of all of the little matted areas she had. I got this product in the mail today and I was eager to try it. Well - LET ME TELL YOU!! This thing is ABSOLUTELY A-Mazing! It combed through even her most matted areas with ease. We were stunned! We hoped the comb would work but assumed it would just be just another contraption that we’d throw in the junk drawer. Well BOY were we wrong! Surprisingly, my mostly antsy pup also let me brush her with this for almost an hour with minimal fuss. This product deserves all five stars - AND SOME!

Works like a charm
I have a standard poodle and her fur gets a bunch of little mats if I don't stay on top of it. I had another dematting comb but she would fight me and it took forever to get the mats out. This comb gets through all of the mats and reduces my grooming time. I'm so pleased.

Great for dematting impossible knots.l
For cutting out those extra tangled impossible to comb out mats , excellent. Only issue is being left handed and sometimes needing to hold it in different angles and the finger guard thing gets in the way and makes it uncomfortable forcing me to move to the other side of the dog and getting it at a different angle. Dont forget to hold the base of the dogs hair so you dont hurt the pup by pulling its hair
