Q: How does this bar let me open the door completely? I am concerned about clearance needed.

Using the release on the hinge side of the door will undeploy the device and you can open the door as wide as it will go. By undeploying it you undo its protection. You would normally deploy the device when you are inside and locking it as you would any other lock.

Q: Should i pay to return the item that did not fit my door length?

Since it is installed ACROSS the door not the length, maybe try installing again.

Q: In case of an emergency, in particular a fire, will I be able unlock /unattach the bar? Thank you.

Yes, just a swipe of the hand will release the catch and the bar is then free to fall away allowing the door to be opened as usual. The release is on the hinge side of the door and cannot be accessed by someone outside the door even if the door is in the open position.

Q: Is this a thing where we could mount the brackets and then put the bar in at night before sleeping? So we can easily open our door throughout the day?

Yes, The bar can be removed or simply left to hang on the bracket until deployed across the door.
