The Viking Invader (Newspaper History)

This is so funny and just brilliant. This sounds really geeky but it arrived and I read the whole thing cover to cover. I got it to use for my Year 3 class and although it might be a stretch for most of them, there's loads of stuff that could be used and adapted for guided reading which is great because I've been making little reports myself anyway so a massive time saver. It's a really good spin on something which otherwise could become dangerously dry on a long afternoon! Plus my own little lad will love it when he's older...

This is fun book for any child interested in Norse myths. Bought for a 10 year old boy but his older brother enjoyed reading it too. It's a fairly thin book so they both read it quite quickly but it's something I'm sure they'll come back to and dip in and out of. The newspaper style attracted their attention.

A different approach to the history of Vikings. Lots of detail. I will use this book to grab the interest of the children in my class. I particularly like the back pages which give details about the long house, hair styles, clothes and jewellery.

Interesting take on Viking history. Really enjoyed reading it and made me laugh out loud on several occasions. Will definitely look at getting other books in the series.

I love the way these books take a piece of history and turn it into a modern tabloid. I'm using it for modelling newspaper writing with cross- curricular links to history.

A great format for getting history into your kids, shame they don't do this for more subjects. Told in a comic book format, the kids want to read it. perfect for my 8 year old's viking project

Gift for my son in law - used but in very good condition - very witty and well written.
