Easier than I expected
Hitch arrived in a slightly damaged box, and the hitch and parts were perfectly ok. Reviewed a video how to that was perfect to help me figure the disassembly. Nothing damaged except the plastic wheelhouse fasteners. New ones worked great. It did take two people to handle the bumper cover. Replacing the bumper/hitch part was super easy. Weighed 43 lbs. Torqued the 8 new 19mm nuts to 82 ft-lbs. Was helpful to strap the tailgate at a 45 degree angle open to get to the bumper nuts. Reassembled the bumper and secured all the bolts. The form, fit, are excellent. The hitch cleared the bumper cover at the 2 inch opening with no trimming required. Highly recommend for the 2018 BMW X5. In fact if this X5 were to be rear-ended in accident, the new bumper definitely is not the sacrificial light weight bumper part as the original, the new one is stiffer and definitely going the transfer energy into the car frame and probably increase repair cost. No other options for the required towing performance. Nearly s perfect replacement to the nee hitch. Highly recommended.

2010 X5 no more rear toe hook bolt holes
2010 X5 Excellent quality very heavy duty. Does not have the threaded rear tow hook bolt holes on the old bumper you are replacing. I had to remove small black top bumper black bumber edge anchor plastic part by removing 1 screw each lateral side and pinching plastic medially so I could easily place hitch onto the four bolts. Easy to replace that part. I started job by Drilling out plastic rivets with that 90 degree tool see picture. I had to remove 4 rivets each side so I had my own 4 extra rivets they give you 4 good quality one, I ordered on Amazon 1/4 inch wide see picture screws worked better thru the center. Large bumper nuts very easy to remove and replace. Much easier install than my previous vehicle 2005 X5 hitch install. The hardest part to remove was the red reflectors the have clip on each end and a center hook that releases by prying the license plate side gently and sliding with great force toward license plate. It will easily reinstall if you break the middle clip by adding extra bend to the metal clip since it still has anchor on the ends. Take care not to over tighten the mutiple edge bumper screws they tighten very securely if you find the right holes. The one plastic top bumper clip just above the reflectors requires a slight pry with large screwdriver with removal and reinstall. The mutiple plastic bumper edge clips are very sturdy and require extra force but work well.

perfect fit 2016 BMW X6 (f16)
ok first, perfectly detailed instructions for removing the bumper from the car (x6) come with this hitch so don’t waste your time plunking around the internet for them. i think they’re also available on the product page as a pdf. this review ends up being more about how are it is to install than the qualities of the actual hitch product (which uses massively thick tubing and -appears to be really well made) the hardest part of the install is detaching the bumper cover from the clips along the top edge between the lights and wheel arches. stick a tiny flat screwdriver into the tab and they pop out easily. once you figure that out, it comes off so easily. oh, and buy some bmw trim panel rivets because you’re gonna break all of them when you remove the wheel arch trim. but they’re super cheap and sacrificial. overall it took me 2.5 hrs in the apartment parking lot with a 8mm socket, an 8mm combination wrench, two flat screwdrivers of various sizes. anyhow, great quality product, excellent instructions and easy to install if you pay attention to the details of the instructions and take your time.

Excellent hitch, easy to install
I bought this for my 2009 BMW X5 35d. It fit perfectly, and came with both locking bolts and 4 plastic replacement rivets for the trim. I watched both YouTube videos for the *2008* X5 installation. The process is exactly the same, and each video offered different helpful tips, so I recommend watching both. One video recommends drilling out all three plastic rivets in the wheel well, but this isn't necessary--removing two will give you access to the bumper cover bolt that needs to be removed. I did purchase a torque wrench to be on the safe side, so that increased my installation costs. Perhaps this wasn't necessary. But it was quite easy for a modest DIYer, and took less than an hour. My wife gave me a hand occasionally, there's nothing heavy-duty here. If you've installed a new faucet or a closet door you won't have any problem with this. Make sure you have some decent tools. I did have to cut the facia and used ProtoZip "zip bits" for the cutting, which made it very easy. One important note: The original bumber bolts were 18mm, but the NEW bumper bolts are ***19mm***. Fortunately my neighbor had the 19mm socket and saved me a trip to the store. The enclosed instructions mention ***12mm*** bolts but this is incorrect. I now have a nice 2" hitch for our bike rack, luggage rack and my little trailer for hauling things to the dump. Maybe I'll get a boat! :-)

Well built and instructions were great!
Like others, my box was mangled when it arrived but nothing was missing. I did think that it was missing the hardware(nuts, washers etc.) but it ended up being in the protective tape around the hitch receiver. So don't jump the gun and go grab your own like I did. I installed this myself on my 2012 X5 35d with no other help and it wasn't to bad. Getting the bumper back on was a little tedious. I found that getting the clips started at the wheels and working your way to the center of the cover worked best. I do recommend putting masking tape on both the body and the bumper from the wheel well all the way to the tail light to avoid scratches. I did have to trim the bumper but I did not measure it out like the instructions said. I just set the bumper cover on the car as far as I could and marked where the hitch was hitting and trimmed as little as I could for a clean look. The only thing I wish this had was a place to mount the trailer wiring plug.

A beast, but hole alignment was an issue that had to be finessed.
Product shipped without being boxed. The hardware and installation instructions were bagged and taped to the body. Parts of the body had cardboard wrapped around, but there were exposed portions and part of the powder coat was marred. Not a huge deal because I knew all but the hitch receiver would be concealed. There are a couple of nice installation videos that you can find online that are extremely helpful. This is especially true if like me, you are mechanically inclined but have zero body work experience. All those tabs and clips are such a pain. I did break a couple of screw heads on the bottom of the fascia where the screws insert into the metal heat shield. And some of the tabs got worn. The instructions were minimal and of little use versus the videos. There are slight variations between between models and model years so you may experience some slightly different than depicted in the videos. The etrailer video was more relevant to my vehicle, as I had to remove the tail lights. I recommend going to the manufacturer's site to verify the receiver model number you order, rather than rely on secondary sources. I was initially going to order a different curt receiver, but their web site directed me to the correct one. The one thing I was extremely irked about was the fit of the holes to the studs that extend from the frame. Instead of sliding effortlessly on, the fit was so tight I didn't think they were going to work. This was despite the holes being somewhat oval to allow for variation. My options were: 1) send it back and hope that a new one would fit better. (Didn't want to have to put everything back together while I waited for it all to get here, so I didn't do this.) 2) figure out which of the holes were hanging up and take a drill and wallow out the holes some more. This could require several iterations of lifting into place and removing for drilling until things were wallowed out enough. 3) find a way to slightly bend the stud (sliding nuts over the stud and placing a deep socket over the nuts would have provided a way to start this, but this was the least desirable. If i bent it too far it'd have to be bent back...none of the bending was going to be good for the stud or the weld holding it. 4) what I did, which worked well, was to put nuts on the bottom two studs and all four on the opposite side. I just started a few threads each on the opposite side, then drew it in by tightening the nuts. The threads were scraping, but i figured if I got it seated all the way to the frame I could run a die over the threads to clean them up. The first bit was the most stressful, but as the threads emerged in view I could tell they were ok. In the end, no damage to the threads occurred and it was properly seated and torqued. I should acknowledge that it possible that all, or some portion of, the misalignment could have been on the BMW side of things.

Great Hitch that looks stock and very strong
I used to work on Humvees and Deuce and a halves in Iraq but don't have the tools required and wanted to leave it to a professional. After weeks of calling around every Hitch and even a Uhaul place no one will install a hitch not purchased from them in the Phoenix area. Luckily, I found a good place on the far West side that had hit and miss reviews but ended up doing s very good job for$165.. (B&M Bumper & Hitch 4645 W. Missouri Avenue Glendale, Arizona ) Since I got the hitch used with minimal scratches it was a very good deal This hitch requires no cutting off the bumper like other brands. It is rugged and well painted and had excellent, clean welds And it looks discrete and solid and like it was factory installed. I have a superbumper installed and if any non truck Hits me from behind it will crumple their whole front end!

Make sure you have all tools necessary for this job DIY
I received the package from Amazon and the box was just ripped off...off course I got nervous about the product been damaged or lost parts...everything was still intact and all parts included. All good, fits like a glove, good product... On my car 2018 X5 M Performance extra trimming wasn't necessary! (Aldo it's says in manual) Make sure you have someone to help you with the bumper moving around to avoid damages.
