Hi, A thimble is typically not needed for this double layer construction design. Hooking it up to your exhaust extension and running before installing in the wall will help you understand the temperature of the outer tube. To add a simple extra heat shield, the hole for the 2" diameter outer tube can be oversize (about 2-1/4 to 2-1/2") and the area around it filled with either high temperature silicone or 100% silicone. This will also seal for insects but will not be seen from the outside.

Q: I have a champion dual fuel 9000 whatts and i want to make it as quiet as possible. How many decibels with this muffler?

This is just an exhaust that passes through a wall to the outside of a building. This is not a muffler and does not deaden the sound. I used an actual muffler (Walker 21040 Muffler) from Amazon spliced into the flexible exhaust pipe between the generator and the GenExhaust. The Walker is a glass-pack straight-through agricultural muffler so it does cut the sound some but not way down - better than without it. I don't have a decibel meter so I can't measure how much but it's better than a straight pipe. Aside from the exhaust generators are noisy in general so you would have to put it in an insulated building or enclosure to really cut all the noise and then heat dissipation can become an issue so it has to be well ventilated.
