What is all the fuss about????
I've bought this as a replacement for the horrid brass eyeball type fittings that were in our kitchen when we bought the house. Having read some of the reviews, I thought a little caution would be in order so I just bought one. It arrived very quickly and looked the part, matching our new brushed steel oven. I opened it, followed the assembly instructions, and after approx 90 seconds, I compared the item with the photograph that has been posted on here. Perfect. I then went and fitted it to the ceiling. 2 mins later, the eyeball was consigned to the bin and a new GU10 bulb was proudly illuminating 1/6th of our kitchen. OK, I am an electrical engineer, but on aircraft and trains, not domestic stuff, but I can't see why anyone would have a problem putting this item together. It was a piece of doddle!!I'm ordering the other 5 now so our kitchen will be resplendent in new fittings.Great product, good price, good service.

Recommended.
Absolutely does the job. Would be better if there was a diagram to show how to construct, but once you work it out, its really good and looks great. Also, it's a bit tricky fitting the circlip over the lamp.

Does just what it should
I bought one of these to replace a larger (probably R80) downlighter. It is delivered flat packed and requires assembly, which if you have fitted downlighters before will not be too tricky.Essentially this is just a standard downlighter, with a big decorative washer and extra long springs. It actually fits easier and better than the standard downlighter, because the springs are tensioned by pushing the standard lamp part up through the disc, and when doing this the springs push against the inside of the disc and not against the sides of the hole in the ceiling. I think I would use these in preference to standard fittings, particularly on my fragile ceilings. You can't really go wrong

Does not work only fits 75mm holes. Useless
Good service and a quality product but although the fitting is supposed to cover holes of varying sizes it only locks into holes of around 75mm so defeating the object and making it completely useless.

Great looking light fitting.
These are great items and great value for money. We have 6 old fashioned lights in our kitchen and I didn't fancy re plastering the ceiling. These lights look good and mean that I don't have to do the re plastering. One of the 6 arrived damaged, not the sellers fault, but he replaced it very quickly. The after sales service is really good.

Brilliant lamps, easy to fit
Brilliant lamps, easy to fit. Do not understand some of the comments in previous reviews about not fitting ceiling holes. That is rubbish - they must obviously be assembling the lamps incorrectly!! You must assemble so the long springs clips stick upwards above the outer ring and the small spring clips stick below the outer ring. Then when offering up to the ceiling they snap into position. Simple if your not stupid!!! KSS

Great product, once you've worked out the springs!
Great product to cover my downright holes which were 90mm, the instructions in fitting the spring aren't very explanatory, had to come back to Amazon reviews to work out how to fit them. Once you work it out they can be installed in minutes! Small Spring facing down, long Spring facing up, fit them in the H then place the outer ring over the top with the long Spring above the outer ring and the shirt one between the outer ring and the light fitting, then put them in the ceiling, there should be a gap between the two rings, and click then up into place, easy once you know how. Not many of these converters around so great buy!
