Q: Does the flow direction matter? And if so how do you tell which way to mount them?

No it should not matter which direction. I wasn't sure either but my mechanic said it works both ways. Hope this helps.

Q: Do these actually last or do they blow out? What size engine are they rated for?

They were on a custom 72 ls1 Nova. They seemed like good quality. I sold the car after installing. Not sure longevity

I no longer have the car but I don’t recall

So long as it is a 2.5" exhaust and the system has room to fit the catalytic converter's size: 12" long, 5" wide.
