Worked well when fully resurfacing butcher block (read my review for instructions)
After the better part of a decade's worth of abuse and knife marks, it was finally time to break out the palm sander and resurface my butcher block counters and island cart, which left me with totally untreated wood. One bottle of the oil was just enough to do about 5 coats on everything, spreading on with a countertop conditioning sponge I had. The wax was enough for two coats buffed on, but I think they could probably use another coat for a higher build of the wax. Color and finish on the two different butcher block surfaces I have came out really nice with the oil and the wax, as well. It's much more matter of a finish than I'd expect from having used that much oil and wax, and frankly I quite like it that way. Here's the process for resurfacing your cutting boards or butcher block if interested: - Work in smallish areas at a time, couple feet by a couple feet - Sand in passes of 80, 160, 240, and 320 grit with an orbital palm sander - Apply oil to a countertop oiling/waxing sponge and brushed a thin layer on, then apply more oil in a zig-zag pattern directly to the wood before spreading with the sponge - Wait 20 minutes or so for the wood to soak up all the oil, you'll be able to tell when it's ready for another coat - Repeat coats until the wood stops taking the oil and it just kinda sits on top - Buff excess oil off with cloth or disposable shop towels (make sure they're lint free!) - Warm the wax by leaving it in the sun or even letting it sit in your oven for a bit once it's cooled down and is just a bit warmer than room temp - Use a wax applicator pad and buff on a layer of wax and let it sit for an hour or so - Buff off the wax with a microfiber or pads or something - Repeat as desired for as much wax protection as you want - Once the wax is fully cured (overnight if possible), buff with extra fine 0000 steel wool until wood surface feels nice and smooth and slick

Excellent alternative to mineral oils
I've never liked using mineral oil on my cutting boards and butcher block surfaces, and I was very happy to find these products as an alternative. They do a good job – easy to apply, produce a nice finish, and quite long lasting. Overall, I've found they represent good value for money, so I don't mind the price - I prefer to pay a little bit more if I know I'm getting a good quality product that meets my needs. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a good alternative to mineral oils.

Good product, packaging could be somewhat improved
Product works as intended. The only gripe I have about it is that it wasn't sealed, which caused oil to leak during shipping (the box was stained with oil. But the product itself is fine.

Hightly recommended. Best I've ver found on 50+ years.
I've tried lots of ways to finish cutting boards. This is easily the best. I eventually wears / washes off, but it takes a while. Apply it initially, then once a day for a week; then once a week for a month, then as needed, depending on use (for us, maybe very 3-4 months. It's food safe, and has no disagreeable odor. Can be used soon after application w/o destroying taste. It never 'dries' or 'hardens"; just soaks in and repels water and 'stuff'. I no longer look for good cutting board treatment; I've found it.

Makes wood sexy again
We have an untreated (naked) walnut island with a sink in our kitchen. It is gorgeous wood to look at and it feels great too. Problem is, it needs to be treated with something, especially around the sink where it gets wet frequently. I searched long and hard for a product to apply to it which doesn't contain petroleum or animal products. I found Caron & Doucet Cutting Board Oil and Wax on Amazon and decided to give it a go. WOW. Seriously, this oil and wax combo makes my island look and feel super sexy. It gives life to the whole piece and protects it. Water beads up and is easy to wipe off. Plus, it's petroleum free and vegan so you don't have to worry about weird chemicals getting into your food. I enjoy applying the oil and wax with my bare hands, too. It smells delicious. Oh, and we also use it on our cutting board which is what the product is intended for, but you could use it on any untreated wood surface.

Great wood protection for the kitchen
Seems to work nicely. The oil is easy to apply. The wax was too hard to get easily with a cloth. Still winter here in northern Minnesota. However, I could shave off pieces with a knife and then easily massage it in with my hands. The picture included shows a much to generous amount of was. I could have gotten by with half or a third of that. Although the product is made from coconut, the mild fragrance did not seem like coconut. I’m happy with the results after doing three different items.

Excellent vegan option for cutting board care.
What can you say about cutting board oil and wax? These products certainly do the job for which they were intended. After washing my new bamboo cutting board and letting it dry it looked dry and , well, ugly. I applied one coat of the Caron & Doucet oil and it immediately was returned to its pre-wash luster and beauty. I oiled it two more times, letting it soak in for eight hours or more. After oiling it three times to get it thoroughly saturated I applied a coat of the wax. After each use I wash my board, let it air dry and apply another coat of oil. When I first received the bottle of oil I was surprised at how small it seems but after oiling my board several times I can say the bottle will last longer than I would have originally estimated, and I apply it quite liberally. The only other thing to be said is that if it matters to you, these products are vegan and contain only products derived from plants.Overall, I am very pleased with these products.

Saved all my cutting boards
So, the hubby got a planer. I asked if he could maybe save my old very thick bamboo cutting board. He said he'd try. Welp, it worked. But, the issue I had now was keeping it from getting so dry and damaged so quickly. So, I researched which types of oils would work and not leave a strange tasting residue and actually soak into the boards. I wanted something that would work for all of my bamboo boards, as I have 6 now. This oil and wax is great. As soon as I am dome cutting, I wash the boards and let them mostly dry. Then I apply a very light coat of oil using a rag onto the flat surfaces. I use the wax all over the edges of the boards. The boards have a few deeper score marks, but the difference is astounding. I had not really been using a proper oil to do this before and I was throwing out boards every 2 years or so. It felt really wasteful. Now, not only can I keep them nicer longer, they are protected from a lot of the worst drying damage to begin with. A little goes a LONNNG way. I have had this product for months now, use most of my boards at least once a week and I have yet to use a full inch worth of the oil and even less of the wax. Excellent products for the money.

My Wood’s Never Looked This Good After a Rubdown
Look, I’ve rubbed a lot of things down in my day, but nothing responds quite like my wood after a good session with this Caron & Doucet bundle. The oil goes on smooth, soaks in deep, and leaves everything glistening like it’s ready for a night out—or a very intimate evening in. And that wax? Oh baby. A little buff, a soft cloth, and suddenly my wood’s standing tall, proud, and looking better than it has in years. No sticky residue, no weird smells—just pure, satisfying glide. Treat your hardwood right. It deserves it.

Clear improvments
Applied this already to a bamboo cutting board, and some wooden spoons and utensils. They all had never really been treated before so this was the first time. I applied the oil in the evening and the transformation was instant, they all started to improve, the small was nice and the application seemed easy enough, I used a sponge, a microfiber cloth and some kitchen roll to see which worked best, the sponge seemed to work well. I then left overnight altho you dont need to but I wanted to give it plenty of time to absorb. I then applied the wax the next day, again with a sponge for some and a cloth for the rest but it didnt seem to make a difference but they all seem to look better, so will see how they are after a fair few meals cooked and update this review.

Very happy
Seems to be high quality products. Oil obsorbes and obsorbes and obsorbes until saturated. Cracks in cutting boards swelled closed perfectly. I buffed in paste like waxing a table. I believe this combined treatment will stand up for months keeping us healthy and the cutting boards resilient. Highly recommend.

Lovely stuff, will buy again
Really nice product so far. Leaves a lovely lemongrass smell on the wood and brings out the grain nicely. Also good to be able to tell my customers that it's vegan friendly and contains no petroleum by products
