Love Fred Cuming paintings. Great reproductions.

If you love the art of Fred Cuming, you will like this book. If you are looking for instructions on how to paint like Mr. Cuming, you will most likely be disappointed. It is not a how to book. He does give insight into his thought process which is very interesting.Although I enjoyed the book, for the price, I wish I could have gotten it from the library.

A disappointing collection of Fred Cumming's work. He has so many other peices that display his mastery of light and mood.

I am at pains to write this review. Long overdue on publishing date. A fair amount of reproductions are well out of focus and blurred. Size of paintings not included, which is rare in art books and most often wanted. Some reproduction are not near true to real colours on the actual paintings I have seen some face to face. The book is of a good size and page content on the ' A figure in the landscape' 2000.I purchase a heck of a lot of art books via Amazon and feel that the picture reproductions are quite naff based on other books I buy. I don't know if it was the photographer, publisher or printers, but it's a real let down. I can understand if some were old stock film photographs used, but even the more up to date digital photo reproductions are blurred and could easily have been sorted digitally, as could the old stock!Fred Cuming is one of my favourite contemporary artists. I have followed his work for years and adore his work and this book does not justify his brilliance. I see I am the first to write a review, many whom love his work must have purchase this book also, do these people feel the same as me but feel it unworthy to write a derisory review on such a brilliant artist. I did'nt want to.

Beautifully illustrated with Fred's unique style of painting; a pleasure to read a little of his life story too. I always find it useful to have the painting sizes indicated but they are not shown, no great detriment to an otherwise brilliant book written by one of our greatest living artists.I am surprised to read some adverse comments about the quality of the reproductions, don't let this deter you as they are all superb. Fred Cuming would not accept anything less than perfection in either his own work or his printed book.

I have to agree with Trevor Barnard.The artist in question, Fred Cuming, is superb, however this book is horrible.I just can't understand why it should have been published with such awful photographic reproductions of Fred's lovely paintings.I too have waited a long time for this, but am now having to return it to the seller as the quality is simply awful. So sad.I am at a loss for further words.

Excellent images but no dimensions of the paintings , great narrative , arrived on time and well packed.

love this book, FC is exceptionally clear at explaining his methods and his views about todays Art world
