The item itself was quite basic - feathers, yes, but backed with covered cardboard in a rather square shape, and "decorated" with pieces of gold-coloured metal watch strap. I had to remove this, cut the too short ribbon straps off, reshape the cardboard and rearrange the feathers before I was prepared to wear this.
