Great songs shame about sound quality
I have followed the hawks for eons and unfortunately this is a great list of songs but sound quality is pretty awful so i dont get the 4 star etc reviews , i played it once and that will be it as its going to a charity shop. I messed about with my e q and still couldnt get it to sound good so its a 2 im afraid just because of sound, genuine hawk fans will cringe at the sound and thats a shame as it has great tunes

Hawkwind - 'USA Tour 1989 - 1990' (Hawkwind Records) 2-CD
Every bit as much of a must-have as the 'Minneapolis, 1989' and 'Reading 1992' , that were released around the same time. Could not get enough of the awesome Hawkwind '75 epic "Golden Void", the extremely well-played "Ejection", one that I simply do not remember at all "You Secret's Safe With Me", "Snake Dance" (hadn't heard that tune in awhile) and the rocking "Night Of The Hawks". Then on disc two, you "Back In The Box", the astounding "Assassins Of Allah", the ^ss-kicking "Treadmill", the classic (in two parts) "Time We Left This World Today", "Assault & Battery" and a few more. This show - I believe was the same week that the Hawks were in the states for the gig you hear on 'Palace Springs' - plus here on the 'USA Tour 1989 - 1990' 2-CD, we privileged listener(s) get the entire set. Almost forgot to mention the rehearsal set at the tail end of disc two for "Needle Gun". Cannot recommend this title enough.

Uncle Sam was on Mars and they recorded this.....
This is a satisfactory performance of a good setlist, which would later result in the excellent Live In Nottingham. While the songs are mostly good choices, and the band sounds on pretty good form, you can't get away from the abysmal quality of the recording. No amount of dressing-up or filtering is going to improve something recorded for video, where you can get away with awful sound. I bought it at a real cut down price, but to be honest it still wasn't worth it. The sound is sludgey, distorted and littered with external noises. If you have to have everything by Hawkwind, fair enough, but otherwise stick with the Live 1990 (Nottingham) or even the Minneapolis gig, because I cannot in good conscience recommend this collection.
