Just about everything I wanted
What to love: 1. Who doesn’t love seeing the coffee percolating in to the clear top? It’s delightful. 2. It starts percolating in seconds. 3. I love having the on/off switch much easier than man-handling the pot and forcing the plug in, or cramming the plug into the wall. I can just leave it plugged in all the time. 4. It seems extremely fast. I have not timed it, but it seems much faster than my old drip pot or the other percolator I tried. 5. So far, so good with consistent brewing. 6. Roomy handle and cool, touch knob make it easy to remove lid while the pot is still hot. I’ve heard that you should remove the grinds after the brewing is done, and this was hard to do on another pot where it seemed that all the surfaces were scalding hot and I had to use hot pads to wrench the lid off. (Percolator lids have to fit tightly, by design, so that they don’t pop off during brewing.) 7. This is not supposed to be a feature. But I was able to unplug or turn off the pot and carry it away to pour at the breakfast table. Then return the pot and plug it back in for the keep warm cycle to resume. 8. Pours like a dream. No drips. 9. Called for customer support through Amazon. Was quickly connected with a live person who spoke good enough English for an intelligent discussion of my concern. (See item 1, below). Didn’t love quite as much. 1. Automatic shut off does not appear to work. I emptied the pot and left. It turned on to see how long it would take to shut off. After 10 minutes, it has scorched the residue on the bottom of the pot and did not turn off. This is not really an issue for me because if I empty the pot, I’m going to use that cute little on/off switch and just turn it off. I’m not sure if my open box purchase might be the reason why this didn’t work. I will be asking the company. 2. Plastic. I was really trying to get away from plastic and I wanted a glass knob. I guess that doesn’t fit the Elite Gourmet design of having a cool touch knob. The knob is held in place with a plastic nut. I checked with AI which told me that the amount of micro plastic potentially produced with this arrangement was substantially less than micro plastics. I would be getting from most other ways of making coffee. 3. I may have misunderstood the description, but I thought I was getting a product that was separate from its base so I could lift the pot and serve and then return it to the “stay warm“ base. The pot and its base are integral. But as I said in the positive comments, even if I unplug it, and bring it back and plug it in again, as long as I haven’t waited too long, it resumes the stay warm function. So aesthetically this is a little bit of a disappointment for me, but functionally, it is not really any issue. 4. I tried another percolator, and the basket cover was much smoother. Easier to wash because it was not grabbing my washcloth or brush. This basket cover has a different kind of perforation system that snags brushes and cloth. This is probably not an issue for those of you who use dishwashers. I switched to silicone brushes and that solved the problem. I know that I’ve devoted more space in my disappointments as in the delights. But the things I didn’t like are really a stretch. It would be really great If Elite Gourmet could use a knob that is glass with a metal nut and then maybe include a snap on plastic cover or make it a plastic-covered glass knob for insulation. The plastic washer on top is fine. It doesn’t touch the coffee. Speaking with a manufacturer representative was quick, easy, and satisfying. I’ve decided to return the coffee maker and this is why. One. Percolator tops sit on tightly. They’re supposed to, but it makes it hard to remove to get the basket out after the coffee is brewed. You’re supposed to remove the basket right away so that it doesn’t keep dripping in the pot or make the coffee bitter. 2. The gooseneck spout is attractive and nostalgic, but really impossible to clean thoroughly. It’s not open to the inside of the pot except buy some 8th inch holes. So no way to get a brush in it scrub it. 3. I’m worried about cleaning it in general. The base is not supposed to get wet, but it’s attached to the pot so you have to carry the whole thing to the sink and rinse or scrub the inside carefully, not letting any water drip around the outside. A stove top percolator does not have these issues. 4. I am worried about the pot, eventually loosening and leaking from the base. All in all, this is a good economy version of what an electric percolator should be. I just think I want something different. Something with a short straight spout that I can clean easily. Something that I don’t have to worry about getting it wet or leaking from the base.

Beware of the manufactures customer service reviews when purchasing an item!
July 16, 2025 I purchased this coffee maker January 5, 2025. It made good tasting hot coffee. Buy May It started leaking on the counter if the coffee was left in the pot for a couple of hours. I checked with Amazon and found I was past the return window and was directed to the manufacture, Elite Gourmet. It took me a while, but I finally found customer service on their website. I told them what was happening and sent in my request for a replacement or a refund in an email on June 25th. They sent me a reply email the next day saying, " please allow them to respond in 3 to 5 business days" to respond. Then I forgot about it until July 11th. I sent them another request. They responded saying that they had sent me a request for more information on June 26th, not true. The only response I got from them was the request for more time, then nothing until I emailed them again. They wanted proof of purchase and a picture of the label with date code. I sent them a picture of my order on amazon and the label that same day. That was not enough they wanted a pdf of the invoice. I sent them that and another picture of the label with the date code. Then they requested a picture of the coffee maker with the cord cut and another picture of the label, and my address (which they already had). That was the last straw. I sent them what they asked for and told them how miserable their customer service was and that they made it feel like I was trying to scam them out of a $38 coffee maker. I told them the whole process was frustrating and insulting and that I would never buy another product from Elite Gourmet again. I said my review on Amazon would reflect my frustration, so here it is. Thank you. 9/28/25 To add to my review the new coffee maker is already leaking after only two and a half months of lite use. After the run around Elite Gourmet gave me replacing the first leaking pot, I'm just going to throw it away and buy something else. It would be nice if Amazon would offer me a refund!
