KVM for Two Computers
The UGREEN USB 3.0 Switch is an excellent solution if you need to share USB devices—like a keyboard, mouse, printer, scanner, or even a USB-C accessory—between two separate computers. It’s designed to streamline desk setups, reduce cable clutter, and make switching between devices as simple as pushing a button (or using the included remote controller). Below are the key highlights from my experience.Design & Build QualityCompact & Sturdy: The switch has a small, rectangular form factor with a matte black finish, which fits discreetly on a desk or can be tucked away.Port Arrangement: On one side, you’ll find two USB 3.0 Type-B ports (for connecting to the computers) and a micro-USB power input (if extra power is needed for high-power devices). On the opposite side are four USB 3.0 Type-A ports and one Type-C port for your peripherals.LED Indicators: Each computer input has a corresponding LED light to show which system is currently connected—helpful for a quick visual check.Setup & InstallationPlug-and-Play: No drivers are needed. Simply connect the two included USB 3.0 cables from the switch to each computer.Connect Peripherals: Attach up to four devices (plus the USB-C device) to the switch’s output ports.Power Considerations: If you’re using power-hungry accessories (like external hard drives), you may want to use the optional micro-USB power input to ensure stable performance.Immediate Recognition: Both Windows and macOS recognized the connected peripherals instantly when toggling the switch.PerformanceUSB 3.0 Speeds: The switch supports data transfer rates up to 5 Gbps, so file transfers to and from external storage devices are quick.Smooth Switching: Toggling between computers is near-instant. I tested it with a keyboard, mouse, and an external HDD, and they reconnected without delay or dropped signals.Stable Connection: Even during extended use, the switch reliably maintained connections without random disconnects.Included Remote ControllerConvenient Switching: Besides the on-device button, UGREEN provides a small external button (or “controller”) on a short cable. This allows you to position a toggle button within easy reach—handy if you prefer hiding the main switch unit behind a monitor or under a desk.Simple Layout: One push toggles the active computer, and the LEDs on the main unit still indicate the current selection.Use CasesHome Office: Seamlessly switch a single keyboard/mouse combo between a work laptop and a personal desktop.Shared Printer/Scanner: Perfect for small office scenarios where two users or two machines need to share a single printer or scanner.Multimedia & Testing: If you frequently switch devices between a PC and a gaming laptop (or a NAS box), having a quick toggle is a big timesaver.Pros & ConsProsEasy Setup & Driverless Operation: Truly plug-and-play on both Windows and macOS.Fast USB 3.0 Transfer: Up to 5 Gbps speeds for transferring data or streaming from external drives.Multiple Ports & Type-C Support: Allows for up to four USB-A peripherals plus a USB-C device to be shared.Remote Switch/Controller: Makes switching inputs convenient if you mount the main unit out of sight.Stable & Reliable: Connections are consistent, with no random resets.ConsExternal Power May Be Required: High-draw devices (especially multiple HDDs) might need the extra micro-USB power input to ensure stable operation.Limited to Two Computers: It’s designed only for dual-computer setups; not expandable beyond that.Short Included Cables: The two USB 3.0 cables supplied are decent in length for most setups but might be short if your PCs are placed far apart.Final ThoughtsFor anyone juggling two computers but wanting to share the same USB peripherals, the UGREEN USB 3.0 Switch offers a clean and efficient solution. Its quick switching, reliable USB 3.0 speeds, and hassle-free installation make it a go-to accessory for streamlined workflows. Adding in the remote controller is a thoughtful touch—ensuring you don’t have to reach around cables or monitors to toggle devices.Highly recommended if you’re looking for a tidy, flexible way to share your keyboard, mouse, and other USB gadgets between two computers.

Works perfectly for switching tame USB 2.0 devices. Excellent value.
This worked perfectly for what I needed it to do. I use this to switch a small collection of USB devices between two computers (a Mac and a PC). I'm switching simple, low-speed USB 2.0 devices such as a USB printer, a USB keyboard, a Logitech wireless dongle, a USB 2.0 multichannel audio interface, etc.At the moment, I haven't tried switching high speed devices like video or external SSD disks. Each of my computers already has their own separate video outputs, network connections, and dedicated backup disks. So I don't want to switch those things. But for everything else: one USB port from each computer is plugged into the UGreen USB switcher, and then downstream from the switch I have a 10-port USB 2.0 hub, which all the shared devices are plugged into. This works perfectly, and I can switch everything between the Mac and the PC with the push of a button. The only extra thing I have to do is press the "input" buttons on my external monitor screens to switch them over to the other computer (and I only need to do this if I leave both computers on, otherwise the video would switch automatically). But no more unplugging and replugging USB cables to switch between computers. The remote button for switching the inputs works great, it has a generously long cord, and it's small enough to stick it anywhere I want on my desk with a 3M command strip. There is a USB-C power input on the UGreen switcher which is optional; I didn't need to use it, it gets enough power from the computers to do what I need it to do.For the price I paid for this switcher (about 40 USD) it is a great value. There are some things I would wish for, but at this price point, these would be extreme luxuries. My wishes would be: A larger, clearer LED indicator to tell whether it's on Input1 or Input2 (its indicator is so small you can't tell without squinting at it), a corresponding indicator on the remote button (for when the switcher box is mounted out of sight), and finally, mounting tabs on the switcher box so that you can mount it under or behind your desk. But I'm able to work around these things easily: I can tell whether it's on the correct input simply by trying to type something on my USB keyboard, and I strapped it behind my desk with some velcro. All in all, pleasantly surprised by how well this worked.
