Windtrace Automatic Pill Dispenser for Elderly with Alarm

This dispenser is working great for my elderly mother with dementia. This has been a good purchase and I recommend it to anyone with similar requirements. It holds 2 weeks of her AM & PM pills. The contents and controls are secure under the clear locked lid, so she can't mess anything up. It reminds her to take her pills on time, and it prevents her from taking extra doses, which used to happen regularly because she couldn't remember that she had already taken them. She has been using it for about 5 weeks and the only discrepancy so far has been missing her smallest half pill one morning. We haven't had any functional problems with the dispenser. The clock has stayed accurate to the minute. The battery meter still shows full batteries. The size, shape, and weight of the dispenser are all good. There are some important upgrades with the version I received in May 2026 compared to earlier reviews: 1) The lid of the dispenser locks with a small plastic key. This same key unlocks the battery door and optionally snaps onto the bottom of the dispenser for convenient storage. My mother has not discovered the key or how to unlock the dispenser. Two extra keys are provided in case you lose one. The keyhole is a simple triangle shape, which is probably good enough security for most users, but I wouldn't consider this dispenser sturdy enough or secure enough for anyone dealing with an addiction to the contents. 2) The gap between the lid and the dispenser sections has been narrowed so that tiny pills stay where they're supposed to be and have not caused any jams. I've shaken it around at all angles to see if the smallest pills would migrate to other sections but they didn't. We keep the dispenser laying flat, right side up, and don't overfill it. 3) An instruction booklet is provided that clearly describes how to program the dispenser and use it. It didn't leave me with any unanswered questions, but I'm not sure either of my elderly parents would have been able to setup the alarms. I'm actually good with that, because they'll definitely call me if they need to make any changes. TIP: Use double-sided tape to secure the tabs of the dosage ring to the pill tray. This keeps the ring in place and prevents pills getting stuck under the tabs.

Well made perfect for what we needed. No more accidental dosing and easy to set up. They can only get the doses needed at that time. They can't take the next day by accident or because they didn't think they took it. Best product on the market in my opinion!

Very confusing to set up because the paper directions were not detailed enough. As a caregiver I had to download the app to get more information. I only found out about setting the clock to standard time by accident. It was one of the videos that showed how to do that. And I am not with the patient/device now so I can't see the dispenser buttons. The picture looks different than the dispenser we have. I have a disc battery also and that wasn't shown on the video for placing the batteries in. Very disappointed.

Overall positive experience after several months, but let me start with the drawbacks: 1) First of all, let me say that I'm in tech. I'm a thirtysomething software developer at a prestigious company. Why is this relevant and not some random brag? Because setting the timer or changing the time on this thing is confusing. (Notice how this review is right after daylight savings time? There's a reason I'm just now getting around to the review...). If a tech person needs to look at the instructions, so will you / your dependent. The instructions are clear, just take a picture of them and put them in your favorites on your phone so when daylight savings rolls around or your routine changes, you'll know what to do. The instructions are probably online somewhere, and of course you can save the piece of paper, but taking a picture of them will probably be your best bet. 2) At one point, this was stored upside down and a tiny pill got lodged in a spot that prevented the wheel from fully rotating, and the mechanism wasn't perfectly aligned after that for several weeks. I don't know why, and honestly, I don't know what fixed it. Maybe I hit the next button enough times? I *think* it's aligned again, but it's weird that it didn't click back into place right away. 3) this thing beeps once every couple of minutes for about an hour and then stops. if you're out of the house during that time, you'll need to remember to take it. 4) it only has 28 days. Why not make it a whole month's worth? Why make us hang on to a couple of extra pills in a bunch of different bottles? I would improve it by - allowing 31 days of medication - connecting to your phone so you can snooze it if you're not around - fixing the weird rotation issue I experienced - making the UI easier to work with, or even printing the instructions on the back. Okay, done with the bad. On with the good. 1) I very rarely have to refill this! It's so much better than a one week organizer 2) I can easily check to see if I've taken it already because if there are pills in the most recent divot, then it's time 3) It's easy to look back and see how many times I've forgotten to take my medicine over the last month 4) I love how I only have to open one lid to refill it. 7 day organizers are really annoying in that regard 5) This thing is so persistent, I HAVE to attend to it if i'm home. The only downside is that if I'm not home, my partner will flip it over and I might forget about it (and leave it flipped, possibly causing a tiny pill to jam it). 6) after several months I can feel what my medicine is supposed to feel like when I take it CONSISTENTLY. It's a huge difference, wow. Overall advice: I don't know if this exact one is the best, but it's a huge upgrade from where I was, and this felt like a splurge. If this broke tomorrow, I would replace it with something similar ASAP. If you have a lot of medicines, this makes taking all of them easier.

An excellent pill dispenser. Our son had a stroke and is unable to manage his pills without this organizer. It alarms and notifies him when to take them and also prevents taking the wrong pills at the wrong time. Highly recommend.

The paper dial in the middle has to be taped in place as it slips. It can be tricky to get all the pills out as some may stick and you need to be abler to get your finger in to pop them out. Need to pay attention when loading-hard to get extra pill out if your fingers are at all large or if dexterity is not good. We dump into a cup as it is a bit cumbersome to flip the whole thing. It's a good next step and you can see when any have been missed. Alarm is not real loud, easy to miss if you're not in the same room or if it's in a drawer. Works for 2 times a day dispensing.

This dispenser was bought for a 90 year old that couldn't see to fill his pill holder. Messed up his med and was put in the hospital. Bought the Windtrace automatic pill dispenser it's filled for 14 days. Comes with a lock, and alarms. Have been using it a few months and can't praise it enough.

My daughter has to take anti inflammatory supplements and vitamins for a medical issue that can land her in the hospital. The pill holders that you see at the supermarket was not big enough. I even purchased a couple from Amazon that were 'large' compartments but sent them back when I got them and laughed at what their large was considered. Plus, she is taking so many supplements that I wanted to separate them into morning and evening. These are perfect. Clearly marked AM and PM and is extra large to fit all in. I purchased 2 so we prep for 2 weeks. These are sturdy, easy to open, fill and snap shut. We just came back from a 2 week driving trip and she was all set with her containers for her trip. Highly recommend especially if you are taking 30 or more supplements!

This organizer is made of good quality plastics. It is clear to see which time of day to take the pills and each slot fits quite a few medicines. The opening and closing mechanisms work well. There are no issues for my parents opening or closing the slots.

Thanks to the instructions this is easy to use but a bit of a pain to setup. Remember texting on the earlier cellphones? Well if you mess up you gotta click through everything again to set your settings and to check that they are correct. The best part is you just tip the device over to dispense the medicine behind the little sliding door. This action also stop the beeping alarm. You do have a choice to deal with the light blue flashing light to indicate it’s time for the dose. It comes with several cards to place in the device. I had it set for multiple doses per day and I found it works as set. It comes with extra locking keys but it’s not for locking the device from children.

Really liked this product. Was able to organize my weekly/daily pills.
