It is made of: - Glass: our glass is otherwise used in laboratories. It is as thin as possible, but as thick as necessary to ensure the best possible look. - Water: Salts, minerals and microorganisms are perfectly matched to the life of the shrimp in the ecosystem. - Gravel: we use artificial gravel. Why? It is more sterile and lighter. This makes transportation for the shrimp much safer. - Shells: there are a few shells in every ecosystem. These do not necessarily serve as decoration, but are included in the system as mineral dispensers. - Magnet: there is a small magnet in the glass. With the help of the outer magner, found on the manual, you can clean the inside of the glass. - Gorgonia: the branch in the glass is called a gorgonian. The size is perfect definitely worth the value. Just be careful not leave these shrimp in direct sunlight or full blow brightness. I love them and bring me happiness. It is amazing to see them. ### ⭐ What a disappointment *by I***N on February 6, 2024* 4th UPDATE: if you have read my below updates you will see why I'm so frustrated and disgusted. They finally sent me a replacement and unbelievably, that one is absolutely full of algae also after two months. The quality of these is absolutely not the quality that it used to be when this was called ecosphere. Do not waste your money. 3rd update: it took literally months but this company finally replaced my sphere that became overgrown with algae. They said that my sphere had a bad batch of salt. I had to be pretty relentless with them but they did finally send me a new one thank goodness. 2nd UPDATE: Well, after numerous communications back-and-forth with this company I am now thoroughly disgusted. As they've requested I have sent them numerous videos showing the algae growth inside the sphere. As mentioned earlier, this sphere has never been in direct sunlight but the algae started growing out of control shortly after I received it. I'm now down to only one shrimp left and I've only had it seven months. They keep promising to resolve the problem and they are supposedly working with their home office in Germany. They now have just simply blown me off. I would never buy from this company again. UPDATE: shortly after receiving it, it started to grow algae like nobody's business and two shrimp died. I did my research before purchasing it so I knew it should not ever be in direct sunlight which it never was. I've been in contact with the company and have sent them some videos. I'm hoping they will do right by me and replace it. I will update this review after this comes to a conclusion. My sister-in-law purchased one of these 10 years ago. It still has two shrimp alive and kicking. I ordered this one recently and it's really cute. I purchased a separate little stand for it which makes it look better I think. For the first 10 days I counted three shrimp every day. Then to my surprise on the 11th day, there are actually four little shrimp inside. I'm hoping I have the same luck with mine as my sister-in-law and many others have.
