ISAMI KONDO In 1834, he was born as the third son of Kyujiro Miyakawa, a wealthy farmer family in Kamiishihara Village, Tama district, Musashi Province (Chofu City, Tokyo). He was the head of the Shinsengumi. At age 15, his personality and skill won the confidence of Shusai Kondo, the third of Tennenrishin style, and he was adopted. In 1863, he applied for a corps of lordless warriors in one party of Shieikan Training Hall. He founded Shinsengumi in Aizu domain after going to Kyoto and breaking up with Hachiro Kiyokawa. He controlled Sonno Joi movement as the head of the Shinsengumi. In 1867, he was shot by Tainoshin Shinohara, the remnant of Kodaiji Party and was injured. This injury caused his absence in the battle of Toba-Fushimi. In 1868, he was caught by the new governmental army at age 33 and later beheaded. He had carried out his will vigorously until his death.
