I bought this pin pointer metal detector for my husband to use alongside his main metal detector, and it’s been a great addition. It’s very sensitive and makes locating small targets much faster once a signal is found. What we like most is how simple it is to use — one button, quick response, and it fits comfortably in the hand. It’s lightweight but doesn’t feel cheap, and the detection accuracy has been spot on so far. One thing to note is that it can be a bit sensitive if you’re near metal tools, so it takes a little practice, but that’s expected with pin pointers. Overall, this is a solid choice for beginners or hobbyists who want to speed up their finds. Definitely useful for anyone serious about metal detecting.

This pinpointer, as most prospectors know, is the top of the line. Minelab is a reliable company, with great products, so goes with this pinpointer. I have used this pinpointer to locate some pretty nice nuggets. Also, I find that at times I can tell by the pinpointer what's junk or not.

Very nice upgrade from the beginners Dr. Otek pin pointer. Highly portable and very loud. Pairs perfectly with my xterra elite detector, no interference at all. Ultra accurate up to about 6-8 inches on highest sensitivity. Reducing the sensitivity while searching a plug is what i find to be the most effective way to tell true distance to the object. The iron signal is a nice feature but it has to be practically touching the object to read as iron. So far it's been worth the money.

Works very well. It has cut down on digging both in time and how large the hole has to be.

I have detected for 30+ years without a pinpointer. This is not an essential piece of gear but is helpful for small targets or muddy conditions. This one is very simple to operate. I am not sure the discrimination feature is needed since my detector takes care of that most times. It is a little chirpy in mineralized soil if sensitivity is set too high. On shallow targets the pinpointer saves me from digging a large plug. The trend seems to be to pinpoint less, dig larger plugs, then use pinpointer to find target. The vibration and volume are easily perceived. If you like, you can turn off the sound. I will write again after I have used it for a few months and several trips. I lost first pointer. I now have a second one. I attached a 1/2 “ stainless split ring to the hole in cap and hooked a key retractor to that. Now it stays hooked to my belt loop. I can use it without removing it. I won’t walk away from it. The rings were from io tags LLC (on Amazon) and the retractor was from Key-Bak (on Amazon. Addendum: Now Nov 2021. This pinpointer has held up fantastically. I use a tip protector that I found on eBay as I tend to “root around” with it a great deal. I think a key to dependable functioning is to turn sensitivity down a notch or two from max. No leakage from water. Battery life is excellent. I still like my key retractor set up as well.
