Beautiful fan. I am easily and often overheated and I decided I needed a fan instead of relying on finding a magazine wherever I was. I wanted a very nice, durable one and this is it- I've received compliments on it. One minor quibble- it comes with a fabric sheath which is very useful but it in no way matches the quality of the fan. The one I received is an ugly bright blue and cheap fabric. I'm not suggesting that it needs to be silk, but it shouldn't be ugly.

I definitely like the fan. It works! I'm perplexed about the word "bamboo." The fan appears to be a stiff shiny plastic. Bamboo or plastic, it seems to be sturdy enough to last awhile and doesn't look like plastic on first inspection. It does come with a sleeve for it to rest in while in my purse. It is a nice, unobtrusive color to go with everything. It does require two hands to rotate apart and then two hands to finagle back into position to close. These aren't deal breakers for me. The important things are it fits nicely in my purse, seems sturdy, is easy to fit in my hand...and moves a lot of air! I would buy it again and, in fact, may.Later note:After very careful inspection, it probably IS bamboo. It has been smoothed so carefully, it looks as smooth as plastic. I'm liking the fact that it takes two hands to open as it doesn't fall shut easily as I'm fanning myself. I'm liking the satin cover sleeve more and more. It protects the fan while in my purse.7 mos. later and the hinge is still holding! Natural color works great with all outfits.A year and a month and was using it today! Hinge still holding. I noticed one of the slender wood things that lay across the tape at the end has come loose but a bit of elmer's should hold it fine. I'd buy it again.

When I received this beautiful fan in the mail I was thrilled until I tried to open the fan all the way. The fan only opened 3/4 of the way, and then I realized that is the entire width of the fan. IOW this is 2/3rds of a standard sized fan when fully opened. The picture is what threw me; it looks like the fan is only partially open. The picture is the entire width (when open) of this fan. Anyway...it is pretty and the pouch is a nice touch. Nicely packaged.

I ordered this fan for the summer and keep it in my bag at all times. My husband and I were in Key West, Fl in May and it was really hot. I used this quite a few times on the trip. Once while fanning, a family passed by and the little girl (guessing she was 5-6 yrs old) stared at me and then told her Mom "No fair she has a fan". LOLLL!!! Reminded me that I loved a fan as a little girl. These would be great for young and old, for gifts, trips, stocking stuffers,etc.

This took a long time to come and I see it's no longer available so I must have gotten the last one. I was looking for a fan I could carry in my purse. I have gotten mechanical fans in the past but they take up a lot of room in a purse, always get broken and don't last long. So I wanted a folding fan with some kind of case. This one has a cloth case, which is why I got it, though I'm not sure if it would protect the fan in a purse or not.The fan seems nice, though a little smaller than I expected. Also it doesn't quite open to a full 180 degrees, maybe 170. I like the way it looks, that it's not garish but plain and serviceable. But I'm not sure if it is tough enough to survive a purse.

Such a beautiful fan, but seriously I got a nasty sliver when I was putting it away back into its case. The fabric seems to be not glued down great on the ends, I can see it pulling away from the wood.I don't live where it's humid so that may be a factor, I don't know. A little expensive to be falling apart and causing slivers.

I just love this fan, i've had it for over a year now and I just carry it around in my bag for those times when the air con unit breaks down on the bus, or when the meeting room gets overheated. it does a great job, looks lovely, and folds away so neat and tidy that its easy as to carry it around. very happy.

I bought two silk fans because I couldn't decide which I liked better. They are really very similar - the other was a bit more striking with two colors of bamboo, and this one came with a cloth case that the other didn't have. They are both great!
