## Description

A Wall Street Journal 20 Best Children’s Books of the Past 20 Years Selection Aaron Becker, creator of Journey , a Caldecott Honor book, presents the next chapter in his stunning wordless fantasy. A king emerges from a hidden door in a city park, startling two children sheltering from the rain. No sooner does he push a map and some strange objects into their hands than he is captured by hostile forces that whisk him back through the enchanted door. Just like that, the children are caught up in a quest to rescue the king and his kingdom from darkness, while illuminating the farthest reaches of their imagination. Colored markers in hand, they make their own way through the portal, under the sea, through a tropical paradise, over a perilous bridge, and high in the air with the help of a winged friend. Journey lovers will be thrilled to follow its characters on a new adventure threaded with familiar elements, while new fans will be swept into a visually captivating story that is even richer and more exhilarating than the first.

Review: HURRY WITH THE 3RD BOOK!!!! - My wife and I are loving this (soon-to-be) trilogy from Aaron Becker! Oh, yea..our two-year-old loves it too. QUEST is the 2nd book of the trilogy with JOURNEY being the first. We discovered the first book as a Caldecott winner and "read" it over and over finding new and more interesting clues and foreshadowing. I say "read" because both books are wordless, using beautifully detailed drawings and scenes to play out the story. I read the story to my daughter but as she learned to speak, she now reads the story to me - it is never wrong in however she wants to detail the action in the book. Both books follow the same DNA of Harold and the Purple Crayon with our two young heroes on an exciting adventure with the help of magical crayons that open worlds, provide transportation and help them escape danger. I would recommend both QUEST and JOURNEY for any age, but be aware the two children get into dangerous situations and if your child is a little more sensitive to scary situations, it might be too intense. Our daughter loved the pictures then, and now, two years later, loves the stories. She was never too concerned seeing the 'bad guys' or when the action was a little more harrowing, but I did try to gauge her reaction as we read to be sure we didn't go too far. She was more interested in subsequent readings so the books weren't bad for her. We look forward to the 3rd book.
Review: Great for speech therapy! Listen up, SLPs! - I'm a school-based SLP, and I bought the entire trilogy to use in therapy. I have to say, this one is my favorite book in the series for a few reasons: 1) There is a bit more happening on each page. For some people, this may make it seem less focused. For me, I find this really helps encourage my kids to talk more, and we get a lot more out of every page. 2) It's more colorful and generally has a happier, more fun feeling to it. A while back, I saw a parent review Journey and comment on the violence and the guns held by the guards. This really has been an issue for my younger students AND my students who have experienced trauma, so I often avoid reading Journey and skip straight to Quest. Quest feels a little "safer" to use with all of my kids. We can always go back and read Journey later. The books build upon one another, but not so much that you can't read them separately. 3) There are more main characters!!! For targeting language, this is so helpful! So many of my kids make errors on "she" and "they," and I can target both with this book on every page. You can do this with the other books in the series too, but it's easier with Quest. 4) Similarly, I find it easier to target other kinds of goals with this book than the other ones in the series. Each phase of the quest is like a mini-story arc in itself, so there are a lot of opportunities to make predictions and talk about cause and effect, and I find that my kids are less likely to get bored or stuck.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful and fun!
*by M***. on January 30, 2019*

I finally got this book and completed the trilogy. I had purchased the others previously and couldn’t wait to get this one. I just can’t say enough good things about these books! The beautiful artwork takes you on an adventure without a single word. They challenge you to use your imagination while also providing a storyline that is fun and easy to follow along. My kids loved these books, and were left asking for more! I even bought them for my nieces! Thank you!
