These are not smaller
I bought these because the description says they're 3/4"x1" pans. I wouldn't have bought them if I had known they were the same size I already have in Kuretake and Kissho sets. I only ordered them believing they were smaller.I still gave them 4 stars, though, because the paint is a good gansai paint and I love that paint in my other sets. I'm only disappointed that the title of the product is so misleading. One of the other reviews also stated that they had received a set with the smaller pans so I thought the listing was accurate.

Nice paint
These are vivid colors, perfect for sumi-e painting and general watercolor. Each of the 12 trays measures 1" x 1 3/4", but the trays are only half full of actual paint. I wish the trays were fuller, but it appears a little of this paint goes a long way. You can order larger Yasutomo sumi-e paint containers in individual 2 3/4" round cups of each of these 12 colors and more from Art Supply Warehouse if you only need one color or a few colors at a time and their prices are good. I'm happy with the quality of this paint, can't be beat for brilliance and colorfast quality.

Beautiful pigments
Beautiful pigments. They are more opaque than Chinese watercolors and a nice contrast in sumi or Chinese brush painting. Works well with the technique of painting on the back of the rice paper for a different effect than front transparent painting. Would buy again.

I love these paints
I love these paints. They are great for Chinese brush work, they are a great variety of colors. I only regret that there is not a second black color. I use that one so fast. I would give this a five star.

Love these Paints
These watercolor paints are fabulous. The colors are brilliant, and it is so much easier to pick up color on the brush than with most non liquid watercolors.
