Hira Singh : when India came to fight in Flanders Paperback – November 3, 2006

This is quite a remarkable book. I downloaded this out of curiosity and when I started to read the book, I was hooked.The story of an Indian troop, as prisoners of war during the war in the Flanders, and how they escaped.Packed with meaningful quotes, this is an excellent read. It is a treatise on valour, honour, leadership.It is also the story of an ordinary troop and the resilience of their leader.Highly recommended

a great story very loosely based on a true incident concerning indian troops who fought and remained loyal to the british raj during WWI.i thought the plot somewhat far fetched til I read some background material concerning the true incident behind the story.a really incrediable series of events which took place.you will want to read more of this man's stories.

An interesting tale, well told with some interesting cultural insights as the Sikhs, after a torrid time in the Flanders mud, wend their way through Europe and the Midde-East. Worth a read.

Interesting account... Worth a read. Rhett old style of writing gets a bit tiring at times, but overall a gripping narrative.

Though initially tried to get hold of the language, gradually beginning to like the narration. Nice read for all who want to start reading talbut mundy
