Packed with info for the Art Auction Enthusiasts
Cancelled my subscription after just a few issues. It just does not have enough bang to justify the cost. At $100 per year. Also felt rather impersonal and cold. Art is beauty and one should always feel at home in it's company. This magazine did not have that tone, it left me cold.

Only art magazine I read
Love the magazine. After 40 years working as a portrait painter it's the only art magazine I read consistently. Plus carefully wrapped and delivered when and as described.

On the Fence
I would buy a one year subscription but I don't know how long they will stay in business. I try to buy this magazine at the local news agent but sometimes it's very late and sometimes it does not show up for that month. I've heard that they are struggling financially.Plus, the magazine is pared down from previous years and while the content is very good, the auction results etc are old news by the time you get the hard copy in your hand. For example you can be reading the January issue and it has auction results from last June.I know that this periodical is produced by hard-working professionals under pressure from the top and I appreciate it; but it's expensive to purchase and I hope that they drop the price to something more reasonable.

not an interesting art publication
The quality of the articles declined dramatically in recent years. Information on auctions and exhibits are outdated and mostly full page photos are used to fill the pages. The magazine also lists over numerous pages the same information on auction houses and their address in each issue. Nothing that can not be found with a few clicks online and it becomes redundant to have the same information in each issue over and over again. Of all art magazine, this is possibly the worst subscription I have.

The auction bible
Anyone involved in one way or another in the art market should be an Art & Auction reader. Each issue covers different areas of collectibles, from Asian art to contemporary painting, from old masters to wine, from XVIIIth century furniture to Art Deco, and so on. There is a monthly artist dossier, delivering valuable insight into his or her career, style, key periods, price level, etc, and a regular in-depth coverage of the major public sales. Contributors are all long-time experts (Souren Melikian, Judd Tully...)and the illustrations of the works of art are often of a very high quality. Undoubtedly the irreplaceable bible of the art market.
