Great product
Having read all the positive reviews I decided to purchase this item and was very impressed and pleased with it. There were a couple of negative comments in the reviews about the higher register notes but I would have to disagree. I am a percussionist and play a glockenspiel in an orchestra and I don't have a problem with the higher notes at all - I would say that only the top three don't have a lot of resonance but they are perfectly in tune and this doesn't adversely affect the sound when playing a piece of music at all. This instrument has a lovely sound overall and is such a bargain compared to the professional brands.

Great glockenspiel for the money
Very nice instrument, as pictured. The case it comes with is a nice touch and of good quality. I'm not an expert on Glockenspiels, but it sounds good to me! I have some basic knowledge of music and I would say the notes are all in tune and ring for a while after they're struck. I think for the money it was a very good buy. It looks good, seems sturdy and feels like an instrument rather than a toy. I like that it has 30 notes as this is almost impossible to find in the more affordable range. Most importantly, I've been having a lot of fun with it! As I'm not a professional, I can't comment on its use in that way. I will say, it's very portable which is always a plus for musicians. Also, the seller was helpful and emailed me after to make sure I was happy with my purchase. (The only reason I've not given 5 stars is because, as I say, I'm not an expert).

this is the worst i have ever came across
Out of the 2 decades i have been playing Glockenspiel, this is the worst i have ever came across.Almost a third of the (higher) notes are unplayable due to non existent resonance. The £5 toy Glockenspiel i own displays better tone and resonance than this.I would go so far as saying it is not fit for purpose.

Shocking
Bought this as I have many other Tone Deaf percussion instruments, which are all excellent and unbelievable for the money I paid. This, however, is appalling. The lower octave is ok (nothing special), but the top half of the instrument does not resonate nearly enough. On top of this, several of the bars rattle and the wooden frame is broken. It arrived with the nails coming apart - terrible for a potentially great little glock.I am going to attempt to salvage this by repairing the wooden frame (easily done, but shouldn't need to do this!), and then attaching better posts for the bars. Currently these are cheap metal screws with a small felt pad.The case is excellent, but sadly it can only be used to store an unplayable instrument. Don't even bother with the plastic mallets if you want to play glock properly.

Disappointing higher register
This is a nice sounding instrument but unfortunately not right across the range. The higher half a dozen (or so) notes have a very thin sound and are a bit tuneless. This is very disappointing when compared with the rest of the range which has a very nice tone.I hope this is a feature of all instances of this model and not just mine, as I would have sent it straight back if it were possible to exchange it for a better sounding one.

Beautiful tuneage
I bought this glockenspiel on a whim one evening, thinking it would be fun to play at a forthcoming Depeche Mode tribute night. I'm not a professional percussionist, just an amateur musician who fancied trying something different. As such it was perfect. The 30 note range may be limiting for those with anything ambitious in mind, but for picking out simple lines (or replicating simple keyboard riffs), it did the trick. It has a lovely tone and is well tuned. It conveniently folds in half and fits into a handy carry case. It is light and portable. It does not come with a stand, but a basic keyboard stand set to the right height is perfectly adequate. The beaters are plastic and easily bent, so be careful, or replace with something more robust! For my purposes, this instrument was exactly what I wanted, but if you're an accomplished percussionist (that's easy for you to say), you may want something with a bigger range, its own bespoke stand and more robust beaters.
