This is not only great for beginner instrumentalists who would tire from prolonged playing, but also for professionals who need a virtually indestructible bow. Because these bows are not made from wood, they do not suffer from similar problems such as gradual warping.Environmentally Friendly, many wooden bows are made from Pernambuco wood, which comes from trees deep in the Brazilian . Without the use of wood in these bows, Orchestra bows are doing their bit to prevent deforestation.Features/SpecicationsBody Material: Carbon Fibre Frog Material: Ebony Frog Style: French Bow Suitable For : Violin

working carbon fibre bows
I bought this bow and a Gold Phoenix, rosined them in well and took them to my local Irish pub sessionfive experienced fiddlers gave each a go:they all liked both of them but three chose the Pheonix, one the Chen, and one couldn't chooseI much prefer the look of the Chen, reminds me of my old Torte copy, but it doesn't feel as good in the hand as the more brash Phoenixso OK but not the best in this price bracket for playing traditional musicI'll put it in my spare case and the Phoenix in my gig bagOf course it could be all down to the hair, and differences may vanish after the first rehair

Great bargain
Before buying I tried several bows, ranging from this one at the bottom end, though to a German-made pernambuco bow at about £600. The wooden bow was lovely, but beyond my means. The Chen bow is excellent, though, and far better than the more expensive Coda carbon-fibre option which felt clumsy by comparison (also, the Coda didn't even have a real ebony frog or real mother of pearl inlays, unlike the Chen). This is a real bargain

Good item but could do with a bow hair upgrade.
Bought this as a backup bow. The bow's hair is budget and needs rehairing, it's a little bit heavy but the bow itself is of good quality and as a backup, it serves it's purpose very well.
