While it does not noticeably remove any pre-existing tartar, I do think it helps not to form more. I have always hated sweet, foamy toothpastes. I like how this has a mild minty, unsweetened flavor that doesn’t overpower your mouth. It also cleans well and doesn’t foam. I do feel like it gets my teeth cleaner than my previous toothpastes, both because it works well and because I am more willing to use it. I actually look forward to brushing my teeth now and brush more frequently. I use this with an unsweetened mouth wash and I love the clean feeling and fresh smell without leaving a strong artificial minty taste in my mouth forever. Does it dissolve tartar? No but I didn’t really expect it to. Go get a proper cleaning for that and start with a clean slate.
