Works on Windows and Linux! Linux installation instructions here.
Works on Windows and Linux! You must install the driver first on Windows or Linux or else it won't work at all. Installation in Windows is easy. Just double-click the .exe. AP (Access Point) mode works well in Windows too, to make this a WiFi hotspot, and it works very well. I didn't test AP mode in Linux but it would probably work as I've done it before with other adapters.-1 star since speeds (using speedtest-cli tool) on my high-end laptop in a USB 3.0 port were only 100~200 Mbps download and upload, which is about 1/2 as fast as the built-in WiFi card when tested on my 1Gbps internet connection.Use the enclosed installation CD or download the drivers on GitHub. Search GitHub for "RealtekWiFiAdapterSoftware".Tested in Ubuntu 14.04.Linux Driver Installation Instructions:1) download "RealtekWiFiAdapterSoftware" from GitHub, or use the enclosed CD2) Navigate to "RTL88x2BU_WiFi_linux_v5.1.7_19806", which is the folder containing "install.sh"3) Run "chmod +x install.sh" in terminal.4) Run "sudo ./install.sh"5) Done! Click the WiFi symbol at the top of the screen in Ubuntu and select the hotspot you'd like to connect to with the new "Realtek USB3.0 802.11ac 1200M Adapter" now showing up in the menu.UPDATE: unreliable. Stopped working after only a couple weeks. :( Not sure if it's hardware issues or driver issues but I suspect hardware.

Some issues, maybe you can live with
My provider gives me 100/100 (download/upload) megabits per second. After plugging in, letting windows install a driver, and then updating the drivers manually through device manager (No, I did not use the software CD, more on that in a bit), I was able to get around 90/100 which is insanely good. I tried using the software but for some reason it made my speed drop by more than half of the speed mentioned, also for some reason my signal strength was hovering around 40-60 as the software indicated. I didn't feel the need to use it because it made my bandwidth slower and was pretty much useless for my needsRe-installed and kept it without the software and it worked okay. Occasionally while testing the speed, I would literally get <10mbps download speeds which is ridiculous. So I'm not sure if it's my router or what, but it seems to be this adapter. While playing some games online, it would give me so much lag that I had no clue why it was so bad. I was previously using a n300 adapter that worked way more stable than this. It was indeed plugged into a usb 3.0 port aswell but man was it so bad at online gaming, especially fps games. Steam downloads peaked at around 14mbps which is also insanely good.I would say get this adapter if you don't game but if you do, I would recommend something more stable like the EDUP brands or TP-LINK brands. I ended up returning this and getting the ourlink ac600 adapter instead and it seems a ton more stable and about as fast as this adapter. However, not as stable as my n300. I seriously don't know whats the issue, but this is an okay adapter.

Big Improvement on Laptop Internet Speed
The LGTERK wifi adapter arrived today.System: 2015 model HP Laptop, AMD A6-5200 CPU, Radeon HD 8400 /R3 graphics, 500 G Hard Drive, Win 10 Operating System.Pros:1) Global Broadband Speed Test was 15 to 25 Mb/s. With LGTERK wiffi Speed Test now is 70 to 75 Mb/s.2) Works on Win XP to Win 103) Device seems well built.Cons:1) Instructions do NOT include windows 10. Following instructions requires extra undocumented user steps for Win 10.2) It may be simple plug and play on Win 10 but I did not try that.3) Wireless connection is handled differently on Win 10. But it is easy and normal for WIn 10.Would Like to See:1) Instructions updated to include Win 10 (if Plug n Play then say so).2) Laptops have built in WIFI #1. Would be nice to see instructions to disable WIFI #1 enable WIFI #2 (LGTERK adapter).Nice Product that gives results. Installation is simple enough for experienced computer users. But added instructions for Win 10 might reduce customer complaints from newer users.

Works great on Windows. Works great on Linux too - if you can get the drivers to compile.
Much faster than the last two wifi receivers I used, which were oddly slow and variable: the Lgterk maxed out an Internet speed test at 250 Mbits/sec (it would probably test faster on a local download, but either way it's plenty fast). On Windows 10, it was just plug and play, no driver disk required.Have to dock a star for two reasons: the driver CD that's supplied is one of those mini CDs - the sort that will work on a portable CD drive where you clip it down onto the spindle, but useless for most regular CD drive trays. Worse, the supplied drivers for Linux were not even close to installable. On Linux Mint 18, it was one compile error after an another (I'd fix one code problem, only to find the next one). I eventually resorted to tracking down other Github forks of the Realtek drivers, and found one that _almost_ worked, but even then I had to edit a couple of C files before it would compile. So, easy for Windows. Might be a pain if you're not technical and trying to get it to work on a recent version of Linux - though this is probably more a fault of the chipset manufacturer (Realtek) than this particular product.
