Great for Shih Tzu!
My adorable Shih Tzu turns into the devil when we try to groom him. He bites hard and deep, and he's so fast you can't hold him without getting torn up badly. He's never had a bad experience, we got him as a puppy, our dog trainer said that some dogs just have a gene that makes them aggressive. We tried lots of treats, but he would just take the treats and still bite us before we could trim any fur. Our vet gave us meds to give him, they make him sleep, but he wakes up every minute or so to bite us during grooming. So this thing makes it possible to actually groom him without getting injured. We have to medicate him to get it on, but once it's on, we can trim his fur in safety. It was a bit pricey for a piece of plastic, but I tried to figure out how I could make one myself and didn't come up with anything, so it's worth it. We still can't trim his face, but at least the rest of him is trimmed and fur mat free. You can't get a muzzle to stay on a Shih Tzu because of their short face, and you can't hold an angry Shih Tzu still without really hurting them, so this thing is definitely necessary for a dog like ours. We love him anyway!

Save your money
It worked great for one difficult dog. She hates having her hair dried. She tapped it on the floor and the cheap clips that hold the sliding purple part broke. I spent $90 plus shipping to groom 1 dog. DON'T BUY -get a snuggie instead. Figuring out where the velcro starts go is a nightmare- it was designed for an unconscious animal- not sturdy enough for the conscious. save your money.

Works well, but made more cheaply then the other ones I have had in the past, I don’t see it lasting as long as the other ones for the same price

Still unsure - depends on the cat. Recommend trying it but being prepared for defeat!
When my Himalayan (who put me in the hospital already and gave me an in home antibiotic catheter after release from the hospital) has worn this item, he has turned himself upside down, sideways, flipped about and made a big scene. I bought the gooming bag to put your cat in and will put him in the kitty "body bag" next with his space helmet on, and see how this works when all the parts are in place. Lord knows I am trying. Someone could have treated this big boy better during his grooming sessions so he is not so terriified. I love and hate rescue cats at the same time! I think this is a wonderful idea, but see how it can be defeated but the strong and terrified in one fell foot "swoop". I have high hopes for it - has the potential to be a good product but the right cat can defeat it in an instant. Recommend trying it but being prepared for defeat!

but I've never found anything else like it. It's worth it
I have been grooming cats for 5 years, and this is a MUST have!! It will cut your time in half, and protect you from infection via the bacteria laden teeth, that cats will inevitably try and sink into your arm. It's expensive, for a piece of plastic, but I've never found anything else like it. It's worth it.

Well worth the price
Works as described if instructions are followed. Device started in a clam shell opened position that slide closed over the cats neck with head inside the globe. Once this is done, the Velcro straps secure each portion of the helmet to prevent the cat from being able to open. it doesn't choke the cat. Consider the neck diameter is smaller than the head diameter. This is why if the device is put on correctly, it wont come off. Materials are two piece plastic colors as shown. based on the design cat cannot bite you or the device. Very ingenious. Well worth the price.

... is too big for my cats and comes off easily, even when fastened with the velcro
It is too big for my cats and comes off easily, even when fastened with the velcro. I have a larger male and a smaller female. It slides right off on both of them. A waste of money. Instead of returning it, I ended up giving it to someone with a small dog, and it is still too big around the neck. They have to hold it in place.
