So far, it appears compatible with my Dell Studio 1737--and Dell no longer makes the OEM battery, so this is it
PRELIMINARY REPORT: I just installed this in my Dell Studio 1737. The laptop did recognize the battery and is charging it. Dell provides a link for battery diagnostics that I'll be running as soon as the battery is charged. You'll find that link below. This link ran some diagnostics on the Dell OEM battery that came with the laptop, which was no longer being recognized, and was not charging. There are standard procedures for dealing with this issue, which Dell support provides on Mr. Internet. You should try that before giving up on your OEM battery. To save you some time and trouble, Dell does not have OEM replacements for the 1737. All they can do is direct you to the part number for it. That is the "Dell XG510 replacement battery." If you search Amazon, another vendor (Amsahr) says they do sell a replacement XG510, however their excellent customer service responded to my email inquiry by informing me that what they offer is not compatible with the Studio 1737. So it appears this item might be your only option for a replacement battery. I'll post an update when I've run the diagnostics, and also if I have issues with the battery staying charged. However, the battery is running an ancient old tank of a laptop, and to the best of my recollection required recharging every 2 hours even when new. That was before we encountered the MacBook Air, which stays charged for 7 hours without issues.WHAT DELL HAS to SAY ABOUT BATTERY NOT BEING RECOGNIZED (please note this is NOT my advice, it is Dell's):Welcome to Dell Community Forum. Please try the following steps :• 1. Power off the computer.• 2. Remove the ac adapter and battery. Hold the power button down for about 10-15 seconds.• 3. Connect the ac adapter and power up the computer. Allow the system to boot to the desktop.• 4. Power off the computer. Once the computer is completely off, connect the battery and power up the computer again. The battery should be recognized by the system now.You may also check your battery performance and run diagnostics on your battery using the link below:http://dell.to/US6E5VHope this helps.

Good Price, Fits, Works
Fits fine and works on my Dell Studio 1747 model. Please note, however, I'm not a big mobile user and just wanted a backup because my original four-year-old battery is getting close to the end of its expected life. The most noticeable drawback is the tapered wedge on the bottom is sharper than the Dell original. It does feel a little uncomfortable when resting directly on my legs but all I have to do is move my knees 1-2" further apart. If you're worried about the comfort level in your lap, move your knees far enough apart so your legs are on either side of the battery and see if that's a comfortable position for you. The battery fit in without any trouble and performance seems identical to my original Dell battery. Since the capacity wasn't clearly marked the same as my original, however, I couldn't easily do a performance comparison without other testing or research that is more hassle than it's worth to me. For high performance mobile use, it may be necessary to buy something more expensive. This is a good deal for more casual home users or if your laptop really stays plugged in most of the time.

Ok Battery but only good for a year !
When it comes to batteries everyone always says so far so good! Well so far so great! I get more then 3 hours out of this battery and I'm very happy with it.Its now been just over a year and this battery has died! The re-seller is providing a 1 year warranty but of course mine died just 3 days past the 1 year purchase date. I was referred to the manufacture Laptop Battery Depot but they appear to be out of business. While I give the product 3 stars I have to give Amazon 5 STARS because they issued me a return label and a refund. Thank you AMAZON!

Happy with product
I have to say that I was a bit leary of purchasing this product from Amazon because the price was so much less than ordering from Dell. I guess I thought it wasn't going to be the same thing, or that it wasn't going to work properly. I was very surprised to see how well it fit. Laptop recharges quickly. I just recently put my new battery in so it really hasn't been long enough to test it out. This battery does last just as long as the origional one. Also like to say that Amazon offers a two year warranty, where as Dell offers only a one year.

Good battery!
If you want the original small battery for the Studio series laptop, this is not it, this is an extended battery which has a larger stand portion on it. it is not the same shape and size as the original battery so read the description, however, it does fit the computer perfectly and charges perfectly as well. the life of the battery is about double the original battery, and it has a charge indicator on the battery like the original.

I don't recommend.
After a week or so of intermittent use, the charge lasts about an hour. I bought a replacement battery for my Acer from Laptop Battery HQ (website) and it's charge lasts almost 3 hours. But they didn't have one to fit my old Dell. Oh well, at least this one holds a charge for a short time, so I can shut down my laptop if the power goes out without losing my downloads. I would gladly have paid more, but the reviews for the more expensive replacements weren't any better than those for this seller/battery.

Charge life too short...
The seller shipped promptly, but the charge life for this 9 cell battery is poor. I gave a 3 star rating because the battery fits well and my 1737 recognized it immediately . However, my original 6 cell battery's charge life was about 3.5 hours and this 9 cell lasts only about 1.5 hours. This makes the 9 cell useful only as a back up battery when there is a power failure so I need to make sure to install the battery when it's storming outside. :-O You get what you pay for... caveat emptor... :-(

9 cells battery for Dell Laptop, recommended !
do not worry about the extension you see at one end of the batt. is serves as an extra lift for cooling! 9 cells better that the 6 I had. Follow instruction as is....it charges 100% on my Dell laptop. price is right excellent merchant came on time ! well protected! it is made in China./- first time used has to be charged and discharged three times....the instructions will tell you how to do it ! this price is very good if you compare with the one brand name!
