Super kitchen timer
I bought it for my 95 year old father and he tells me it's exactly what he needed - easy to use, big, clear display, and big buttons. He says the five-minute warning is a great idea - very loud and easy for him to hear (he is very deaf). After the warning, it apparently beeps more quietly. It can be set to count hours up, or to count them down. For the price (at the time it was £2.49) this is a great little timer; I have now bought two more - one for myself to double up as an alarm clock (I don't necessarily need to know the time when I wake up, it's more the number of hours needed to sleep), and the other for a friend.

Does the job very well and the alarm is excellent. It beeps at ten minutes
Does the job very well and the alarm is excellent. It beeps at ten minutes, then again at five minutes, before making a lot of noise at the end of the countdown. We find the warning beeps very useful, especially the five minute one (time to lay the table, get drinks etc), and the fact it is noisy and insistent makes it hard to ignore, which is also very good! I've been known to not hear other timers before now, too engrossed on the computer, or talking to someone. I NEVER miss this one! It's also very easy to use, though my husband would prefer the display to be bigger so he didn't need to put glasses on to read it. Still, it's excellent for what it is.

Does the job
Good timer; simple to set, loud enough. Display is very clear but slightly smaller than expected. You set it in hours and minutes ( not seconds), which for most purposes is fine. It gives a warning alarm five minutes before time, which you may find useful or annoying. Good value.

Highly recommended. Great item and very versatile
Brilliant item and very nicely designed. A pleasure to use. Simple to operate. I bought this so that my mother could have an easy alarm for her afternoon rests. She can just set it to eg 2 hours and it's really easy to use. Unusual to get something that allows one to set more than 60 or 99 minutes. The printed instructions are pretty misleading but it does allow one to set up to 20 hours, as stated in the description, plus any combination of minutes up to 59, despite the instructions and the concerns of one of the other reviewers. Also useful for its primary kitchen use and great that it also has a brief 5 and 10 minute warning, which means one can call family members, put on the quick veg etc when the meal is nearly ready. Am now buying one for myself too. Great supplier too, as it was posted immediately first class for free.

Good item
Easy to set the time, the display of the time is big and clear despite of it's small size, the alarm is loud enough. I've found very useful the feature of retaining the previous time set to get the timer going (if desire) again for the same period of time. I haven't used the count up feature but a nice extra to have anyway ... Just one thing: It lacks of an auto-shut off feature (the instrucions does not mention anything on that), or of an "off" button, otherwise it stays on and on, so if i'm not using it, i kept the plastic battery saver/strip to put it back to "turn off" the timer, but that is not a huge bother for me so that's why I rated the timer with 5 stars anyway: it does what it says in the tin.

Works OK, but more confusing than it should be
This timer, like the Salter one I owned before it, can function both as a countdown timer or a stopwatch (count-up, if you like). However, the display is different depending on which mode you are using. When counting down, it displays hours and minutes, but no seconds. It goes up to a maximum of 19 hours 59 minutes. This is OK, although personally I would have preferred it to display minutes and seconds as my old timer did (it went up to 99 minutes). I miss having the seconds displayed, because there's no visual indicator that the timer is even working. When counting up, though, it displays minutes and seconds instead. This is kind of confusing, because it means you can't really know what time it says at a quick glance, unless you remember which direction it's counting. HOWEVER, the thing that really caught me out is that it only counts up to 19 minutes 59 seconds, then resets to zero and continues counting up. This really caught me out the first time I used it. Personally when I'm cooking, I always tend to use the count-up mode rather than the countdown, because I like to just use it as a visual guide to how long something has been cooking for. I'm in the habit of just putting something in the oven and hitting the 'start' button on my timer, but this timer is pretty much useless for that, because if you come back after an hour and 45 minutes it will just say 5 minutes. Fine for boiling an egg, but useless for roasts. I honestly thought it was faulty and was preparing to return it, but then I finally figured out what was happening. Now that I know, I'll just stick with countdown mode. Otherwise, I have no complaints. The magnet sticks it conveniently to the fridge door, the alarm is loud enough to hear from upstairs, and the display is easy to read, once you've figured out what the display units are.

Excellent timer
This is the second one of these I have bought. I use it to time model aircraft flights as I cannot hear my transmitter timer if I am in winter mode with head in a Russian type hat and my transmitter in a winter cover tray so my fingers do not freeze! I love the simple operation and ease of viewing the face and the five minute interval bleeps it gives out. I also like the way I can clip it to my lapel so I can keep it near my ear. The only thing I have found poor is the cover over the battery is not very secure and easily opens. I now always put a small piece of sellatape over the battery cover to better secure it!

Great advance warning bleep.
Brilliant, even has a warning bleep before cooking time is over so that you have time to finish what you are doing elsewhere without fear of food spoiling.

A very good little timer with easy to use buttons and a clear screen. The alarm is sufficiently loud. The only thing that stops me giving it a full 5 star rating is that it does not count down the seconds like other similar timers do.

Produit qui me convient parfaitement car on peut programmer également les heures, de plus il sonne 3 petits coups à 10 minutes de la fin et encore une fois à 5 minutes de la sonnerie finale. Très facile à utiliser.
