## Description

Demand Forecasting Best Practices: 9781633438095: Computer Science Books @ desertcart.com

Review: Great overview of how to build a forecasting system and get value from it - The author does a fantastic job of introducing all of the relevant aspects of forecasting demand. There's not an immense amount of technical depth, but that makes the high level insights very accessible for the layman. After reading it, I feel that the way forward (at least as far as the business logic) for building a forecasting system at my company seems much more clear. He wrote some other books that get more into the technical details of modeling demand and optimizing inventory. This book serves as a solid introduction to that content or as a companion book for non-technical co-workers to read for context. If you're technical and intend to build your own data infrastructure to do all of the work mentioned in this book, then you should try to find a good book on data engineering to pair with this author's work. I picked up Fundamentals of Data Engineering by Reis and Housley, and that seemed to compliment it well in my case.
Review: Good - Delivered on time and the book quality is good

Total rating 3.5 stars - please read below why. If you have not read any of Nicolas' books and are starting your journey to better understand these topics, you will most likely enjoy this book. The language is simple to grasp and it has good basics + references to further deepen your knowledge, if you wish. Considering this, I'd rate the book 4/5 stars. If you have already read the other two books Nicolas published (Data Science for Supply Chain Forecasting and Inventory Optimization) as I did, you frankly won't find a lot of new content in this book. I was expecting a little bit more and did not learn a lot of new eye opening things. It felt more like recycling of the content from the other books and cross-referencing to the other two books Nicolas published. Furthermore the font and spacing felt much larger compared to the other two books. So even though the book has 200 pages, I was able to finish it within a day whereas the other two books kept me entertained for a bit longer. Under these circumstances, I'd rate the book 3/5.
