Brought to you by the producers of 'Broadchurch', Tin Star is an epic and bloody new revenge drama from Sky Atlantic, telling the story of Jim Worth (Tim Roth), an ex-pat British police officer starting a new life with his family as police chief in Little Big Bear, an idyllic town near the Rocky Mountains. Not long after their arrival, the opening of an oil refinery nearby leads to Jim encountering its mysterious representative Mrs Bradshaw (Christina Hendricks) and the Little Big Bear soon becomes a boom town, bringing with it a wave of drugs, prostitution and organised crime. When Jim takes a stand against the oil company, it's not long before someone makes an attempt on his life. But when he ducks the bullet meant for him it leaves a member of his family dead instead. With the gang of killers still in town, the police chief becomes hell-bent on violent revenge and as his world continues to unravel, the line between hero and villain becomes blurred. Will Jim s lust for bloody vengeance put his family s life in further danger still?

Strange series, troubled central character hard to fully like
Strange series set in the striking mountains and forests of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, starring Tim Roth as an ex-British police officer who had participated in undercover investigations of organised crime. Wanting to put difficult memories of that behind him, he has relocated with his family to become a uniformed policeman in a small town in Canada. However, his past follows him, putting his family in mortal danger from the very first scene. There is also a nefarious plot going on linked to proposed extension of drilling for oil in the locality. (Rule of screen dramas: oil companies are generally evil and up to something underhand.)The wonderful actress Christina Hendricks plays a newly appointed media officer for the oil company, apparently not knowing the above rule about oil companies in screen dramas and therefore not initially aware that the company is evil and up to something. It is always nice to see Christina Hendricks, but this is not her best performance (those for me are 2 episodes of Firefly, the little known film Lost River, and her performance in, although not the rest of the film, Dark Places). There is enough mystery and danger to keep up the audience's attention, and a very eventful and dramatic final (of this season) episode.Yet somehow there is still for me something hard to define that is lacking in 'Tin Star' that leaves me unwilling to invest the time in watching further Seasons or to fully recommend it. As I have said, it is somewhat strange, and Tim Roth's central character is hard to fully like.

It is a good story, but I expected more from the Tim Roth character. The story line was a bit week in parts maybe unbelievable may be more accurate. It is hard to believe that the Tim Roth sheriff can run riot in that Canadian town without much resistance from the local constabulary.I loved the scene though where the Tim Roth character gets picked up by that black guy pretending to be from alcoholics anonymous and I suspected that the Tim Roth character thought that this was as likely as him being from the Jehovah witnesses. You could see the revenge coming and in this case it fitted the crime.

Adult action Drama. Intriguing plots.
We always look out for Tim Roth Films, series etc. We haven't yet been disappointed. We first saw him on uk tv where he was a young thug on the make in the city many years ago.

Excellent viewing
Very impressed with this series. Not the usual slow burner I was expecting. Good strong acting, and the violence/language is comic in places.Looking forward to buying series 2 when released.
