This small pallette is perfect for my travel kit that i always carry on my back pack. With 16 wells, I have enough colors to paint anything and everything and the size is just right. Not too big to cause me to want to leave it at home and not too small to not carry enough colors or paint to paint plain air anywhere at any time. I use Daniel Smith watercolors and I only need to scratch the well where I pour the Ultramarine Blue because that's the one that doesn't stick to the polished finish plastic well.I can also fit a 3/4 inch flat brush and a #6 round inside the palette. Although the palette has a rubber o-ring seal and a latch, I added a rubber band to keep it closed inside my backpack.

I got this for my daughter to keep her little blobs of water color paints in one place when we travel. the paint leaked over the tubs and made a big mess in the center. Thank goodness it stayed INSIDE the tray. It's fine to keep the dirt and dust out when using it, but don't plan on taking it anywhere if you want to keep your paints from mixing
