Has worked perfectly for my needs.
I put 2 SFP+ 10G ethernet modules in this thing. Has worked perfectly. I did do the research BEFORE buying the SFP+ modules, rumor has it some aren't compatible. but no idea if that's true as I bought 2 different SFP+ module brands and both have worked perfectly. The advantage of this one is that you can have upto 2 10G connections on it with 2.5G for the rest of the ports. 99.99999999% of people don't need this type of equipment. But if you have fiber. and lets say a 10GB connection as I do*no, not a 5GB*, you'll be able to take advantage of the 10GB while keeping the rest of the network pretty high speed. unless you're doing ACTUAL video editing and uploading massive files, the only other purpose of this switch is for bragging purposes. Very cheap cost for a home environment. For those buying these types of products. understand the difference between SFP, SFP+, and so on. If you don't know what that means... you likely shouldn't be buying these types of products. I believe it's very possible a few of the bad reviews might have been do to not understanding the specs or how to use this tech properly.I have 2 of them in total.

Ordered 2 units, one defective.
I ordered 2 of these switches to use as a 10gb backhaul on my network between two buildings. Upon installing, one of the units worked great. The other unit did not power on at all. Tried other power supplies, with no luck. Unit totally dead. Called Amazon, asked them to replace the defective item, said they could not replace it, had to refund which would take 30 days. I don't have 30 days to wait for another unit that may or may not work. I have ordered the replacement unit somewhere else for delivery tomorrow. I won't be buying from Amazon again. Cancelling Prime membership today as well. Crappy customer service!!!!!UPDATE: I am changing my review because the company that manufactures this device reached out to me and offered to step up and provide the customer support that AMAZON should have but did not. Elsa from Vimin reached out and I received a refund this morning for the one defective unit. I will absolutely give Vimin products another chance, because I appreciate them stepping up and doing the job that AMAZON should have done but did not. Thank you, Elsa I appreciate your effort.

nice features and price, but can crash when using SFP DACs (also died after 14 months)
I have the version that is 2x10gb SFP+ connections, and 4x2.5g RJ45 connections. The specific model number is VM-S250402Good: this switch has a really cool, unique set of connection features, and a good price. Brief testing showed me getting better speeds than my old gigabit switch.Bad: i have several devices at home. most work fine, but I have two different desktop computers that, when I use their RJ45 ethernet, and while I also have the switch with one of the SFP+ connectors plugged in using a copper twinax DAC... the whole switch powers off and shuts down. Once I unplug the offending cable, the lights on the switch come back on and the switch starts working in a couple of seconds.I've replaced the switch from Amazon twice, Vimin tech support (through amazon messages) confirmed that it may just be a defect in the switch that it doesn't work with copper DACs.(when I plug in SFP using fiber optic cable, I don't have the problem. (fiber optics are just more expensive than DACs))So I would only use this in a very narrow use case where you can guarantee you won't need DACs, which seems pointless when there are other similar switches in this price range.EDIT: I am dropping another star, down to only one star. It's about 14 months and the switch just plain died while it was in use. It won't power on any more. It's out of the nominal 12 month warranty but Vimin didn't even respond to amazon messages about any possible repair or troubleshooting options.

It works fine for 2.5Gbe
Let me preface this by saying I haven't tested the SFP+ ports, so I can't comment on that. For adding 2.5Gbe connectivity to your network, this is a good cheap option. I'm using it as a dumb switch on a network that has both 1Gbe and 2.5Gbe connections, and it was literally as simple as just plugging everything in. The 2.5Gbe ports step down to 1Gbe painlessly if you're connecting it to another switch that only supports 1Gbe. Also, the issue that others have brought up with the power supply has been rectified, as mine came with a dedicated power brick instead of a "USB" wall wart. It's a simple switch that does what it's supposed to and nothing more, and while it doesn't have a ton of ports, for the price it's hard to beat. It's a great and cost-effective way to get started with higher speed networking.

Works well, but confusion around VLAN support
I specifically asked a question about if the VLAN tags are passed through this device without modification and the manufacture doesn't even seem to know. They just keep talking about their isolation mode which is not the question. I went ahead and purchased it and tested it and it does appear to allow VLAN tags created by other devices to pass through the device unmodified, which is what you would expect from a 'dumb switch'. This is with the VLAN isolation mode off. I haven't tested with it on, but that would almost certainly break the tagging.I have this powering some Unifi APs (U6-LR) and those APs have multiple SSIDs which are tagged to differrent VLANs. All the SSIDS and VLANs are working and making their way back to my router.Hoping to do more detailed testing and packet captures later, but for now, wanted to let people know this bit of information that the manufacturer doesn't seem to understand.

Don't know what I'll ever do with the SFP ports but... but worked without hint of trouble at 2.5gbit
Well built, metal case, and about as low as prices get for 2.5gbit network switches. Only part of the network that worked without any complications!

Year in its dead.
I do not like that after a year, it has failed. It’s been protected by a UPS, connected to a backend switch that is… much older.edit: I still ordered a 2nd one, its just so cheap... so, fine, 2 stars.
