Roland CY-5 Electric Drum Splach, 10-Inch, Black

I have been performing weekly year round for the past nine years using the Roland CY series E cymbals and non other compare to their performance, durability and reliability. The CY-5 is a great little Hi Hat that comes complete with its own mounting arm and notched base for rack mounting.

Worked like new with all parts.

Quick caveat this is just one cymbal, I was under the impression it was two, more like an actual hi hat. Having said that the Roland TD17 is the best electronic kit I’ve played and one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. The cymbals are great as well, very responsive and good at telling the difference between tapping the cymbal and crashing

I’m giving these five stars not because I think they are the best electric drum cymbals, but because they are a decent bang for buck and I’ve experienced no problems with them. There are more affordable options out there but they are not made by Roland and I don’t know if they have as many features - e.g. chokable.

It works as intended

Roland's V-Drum pads are notoriously expensive, but they are the best. A CY-13R and a pair of CY-5's are a nice relatively cost-effective replacement for the aging PD-6 pads I was using for cymbals. That said, the CY-5 edge/top trigger distinction is not quite as good as the PD-x pads. On balance I am quite happy with them -- they work well and look much better. You do need to get cymbal booms if you are using pad bar-mounts. Beware that you have two cables for the ride, one for two triggers, and one for the third; you'll need to be sure you have the available inputs on your drum module. That was a bit of a surprise; I had expected it would do the three-way with L, R, and LR. But you don't need to use both inputs; you can use one cable for bell/cymbal or one for edge/cymbal. I have no real use for the edge and elected for the former, rather than sacrifice one of my AUX inputs which I use for a extra PD-80. The feel of the ride is much truer to a metal cymbal than the PD-6 pad.

Cymbal came new in a plastic sleeve. Contacted the sellers about a Roland warranty. Apparently items not in a Roland box are not eligible for warranty coverage. I only mention this because I had one fail in 3 months time. Still a bargain and seller was prompt and helpful with a response.

I used "Gibraltar SC-CMBAC Medium Cymbal Boom Attachment Clamp" and "Hosa STP-203 1/4" TRS to Dual 1/4" TS Insert Cable, 3 Meters" to split the rim off Tom 4 and make this an extra cymbal. It came with a hi hat clutch and cymbal mount, so I did not need to buy anything else. The offset nature is a little weird, but I tightened the cymbal down and it seems ok / still moves. When I have to replace the Alesis cymbals, I will probably go with the Roland CY-12s.

These are replacements. The ony piece in my kit that I am replacing on the regular. Cheaper than getting them through Long and McQuade but waiting for shipping. If you're in a hurry go get them from retail. If you're simply being proactive this is a great way to save money. Excellent Roland quality!!

Roland TD-07dmkに追加して使っています。 もともとセットに付いているものと同じものなので、特にこれと言って取り上げることはありません。問題ないです。 ひとつ言うなら、やっぱりシンバル1枚追加した方が楽しさ倍増です。 シンバル増設するか悩んでいる人には、増設お勧めですよ。
