Very Disappointed
I am distraught!!!! Only 2 of the cans were not dented (and I mean seriously dented) I do not buy damaged cans when I go grocery shopping and do not wish to have dented ones sent to me. I feel I should be reimbursed for part of this order since I am throwing the dented products in the trash. VERY disappointed.

Dented cans
Ok. So this review is not for the beans. I love these beans. Just can’t purchase locally so tried amazon for first time for food. The reviews are accurate! 7 out of 12 cans had dents with three of them questionable about safety. Will never buy food from Amazon until they prove to me I will not poison my family. Otherwise love Amazon!

Mediocre quality.
These are about 20% more expensive than the Goya butter beans I’ve been buying at my local supermarket, but they don’t really compare in flavor, texture, or value. Opening the can I noticed that the beans didn’t come up to the top- they were about 3/4” down. The rest is thickened liquid. Drained, the beans weighed only 8 ounces, and about 10% of them were crushed or split. They’re a lot softer than the Goya beans, and lack that rich, buttery, taste. I think I’ll risk a trip to the grocery next time.

Fantastic Beans!!
I ordered a case of 12 Butter Beans, got them Sat. Arrived great, neatly packed and shipped nice, no dented cans! This is June 2020, Exp on the top is Feb 2022, great date! No pull top, have to use can opener. Have not had any Butter Beans since March, due to Covid-19. Have not been able to get any locally. Opened a can Sunday to have with Cheese Burgers & Mashed Potato's. Drained half of broth off, beans was down about an inch, nice, not mashed and broken up. There was 2 or 3 squished on the bottom which is less then regular. I put a lump of butter & fresh cracked black pepper, Was GREAT! We like Joan of Arc the best, have tried other brands, but they was over cooked and mashed in the cans, half way towards refried beans texture. Others not cooked enough, hard. Some even hard some small green lima beans in there cans, that is not Butter Beans! To those who don't know, Butter Beans are big Fordhook Lima Beans, that was not picked in the field on time for use as regular Lima Beans. They let them stay in the field about another week, then pick them, dry them, then cook them in water & a little salt, then process them, can them, which cooks them more. My one Grandmother made her own Butter Beans from the garden. The Fourth is just around they corner, I will take 3 or 4 cans, drain off the broth, put in casserole, brown half pound bacon, then saute an onion & green pepper, add favorite barbeque sauce, bake in oven, don't cook till dry, leave a little sauce, great for picnics!Update; 6-30-2020, Just got my 2 extra cases I ordered on Monday, got them today Tuesday, all arrived great, nice package, not beat up, NO DENTS!! Exp. 4-2022. Thank You Amazon Workers! Tip of the hat to ya!

Inexpensive and convenient
I have tried and compared many different brands of canned butter beans at various prices. I also made some myself starting with dried large limas. My home cooked ones were the best, since I cooked them in my own chicken stock.I like to eat butter beans cold, with olive oil, vinegar and blue cheese in a basic salad that I then can other items to.I want them to be cooked, but I want them to not be mushy. to still look like individual beans. Next I want the interior of the bean to be smooth and creamy, and a distinct skin, but one that is not too tough.Needless to say, doing this all on my own is time consuming, so the idea of opening a can is appealing. Some cans of butter beans end up with at least some mushy paste at the bottom of the can. Others are more expensive (Goya comes to mind). They usually have additives to retain color or to stop the breakdown - that is unfortunate, but the convenience of being able to just open a can frequently takes priority. These Joan of Arc beans were the cheapest but were the best for integrity of the individual beans. None as good, especially when it comes to creamy interior, as the ones I prepare myself from the dry beans.

GOOD BEANS BUT AMAZON'S TRADITIONAL DENTED CANS
firstly, the first can I pulled out was dented--more bubble wrap needed and that's why 4 and not 5 stars for "overall rating." But the beans and taste were excellent. Anyone not sure what to do with them: saute olive oil and garlic and then add beans (I put in shrimp, chiles, capers, lemon juice, canned mushrooms, parsley and seasoning). Saute on medium heat until beans pick up some color and the last minute or two put it about a quarter cup water and cook for 1 more minute on high heat to create a sauce.----edit review: only criticsm is these the can is not filled up; would still buy them because they were very good, but you should receive a full can of beans.

Denting included with almost all cans
As advertised. 11 out of 12 cans dented. Looking at the sequencing production numbers on the bottom of the can I doubt that they just throw a whole bunch of dented ones together from production for internet sales. Yet why every can?

Blander then I thought they'de be
Bought 12 pack of 15oz spicy chili beans. One can came loose from the rest in shipping, but none were damaged. They have a decent shelf life (received 7/6/2020 and expire 1/16/2022.) I tried them first as a stand alone side, and really wasn't impressed with there flavor as a side dish. I expected more HEAT from them. Personally i'd call them seasoned chili beans, and not spicy chili beans but that may just be my own misinterpretation of the product. They aren't labeled "HOT and SPICY Chili Beans", but I thought the beans would have more of a chili pepper infused flavor to them. They mix well into chili or ramen, but each dish still requires to be kicked up for spice and heat level. Reasonable value per can if you find it sufficiently seasoned for your liking as a side dish (I did not), but more economical choices per can if just mixing it into dishes as a filler.
