The pillow is medium firm. It will hold its shape well even if you place your elbows into it while reading a book or laptop. As for "putting your whole weight on the highest point" I am not sure what you mean. This is not a pillow to sit on top of, but the pillow will be strong enough for a laptop or a book with any added arm weight. Hope this helps.
