Works but not best fit
Mind there are different versions of Ultrabays for Lenovo laptops. This one is supposed to be 9.5mm thick Serial Ultrabay Slim, and is supposed to fit my T500.> t deng:> there is a big gap between the caddy and the laptop, and it is very difficult to get the caddy out once insertI also get an ugly gap of 1-2 mm above the caddy, so it doesn't feel properly fixed. There is a gap a bit less than 1 mm with the original DVD burner too though. Perhaps it helps keep the disk cool.I didn't notice any more problems getting it out is than with the DVD burner.> Mark> 1: The adapter front does not sit in exactly the same position as the original DVD (in my case) player - it is a couple of millimetres further out.Mine sticks out perhaps half a mm more, not bothersome.> 2: While being listed as compatible with a Lenovo T500, the item lacks the plastic lug at the back of the adapter. As a consequence of this (I think), the item does not eject. There is nothing such on mine either, but I don't think there should be. There is a kind of a side-push-lever on the T500 below the dock, and it triggers another thing that spring out below which helps you pull the dock out. It looks a bit fragile.> On the positive side, I had no problem with the hard drive being a tight fit as reported by tizza10.Mine (WD) is not tight either, rather the opposite, does not sit firmly in place, so I added two bits of spongy stuff.

This is cheap and nasty.
This is cheap and nasty. Where the hell is the eject mechanism? The front panel is slightly bent, it looks like it could break off. I would not buy this, go for a real one from the Lenovo website instead. I am not even going to attempt to put this in my new laptop.

Ideal for Lenovo w500
Works extremley well allowing me to put a new fast SSD drive in the main hard disk of the computer for quick boot up times and move the encrypted hard disk with the data on to the caddy.

Perfect for extending the capabilities of the W510
This gadget has enabled me to convert my root file system disk to SSD, while moving the existing 1TB hard disk to secondary status. It is a good situation, because the system boots four times faster and I have more storage available for home directory use.

Couple of gotchas to be aware of.
The adapter works but there are a couple of problems:1: The adapter front does not sit in exactly the same position as the original DVD (in my case) player - it is a couple of millimetres further out. Not an issue in use but not as good looking as it could be.2: While being listed as compatible with a Lenovo T500, the item lacks the plastic lug at the back of the adapter. As a consequence of this (I think), the item does not eject. You can lever it out with a narrow flat-bladed screwdriver quite easily once you've pulled the eject lever. I suspect this would become a chore if you were planning to swap hard drives frequently. On the positive side, I had no problem with the hard drive being a tight fit as reported by tizza10.
