I bought this to replace the charger on a Rally scooter cart that uses two series-wired 12V lead-acid batteries.(the OEM part cost nearly $300). This MUCH less expensive charger will do the job but not without some remedial work. Item 1, the charger can be back-driven by the battery, meaning you cannot just hard-wire it into the scooter. You either have to disconnect when the charger is unplugged from the wall, or install a diode in series with the DC output. I suppose a relay could be used instead. I have yet to install a diode. I am hard-wiring this into the scooter. Item 2, the charger generates a great deal of EMI. I am not sure if anyone within a 500 mile radius will be able to use their AM radio when this thing is running. I will try mounting the unit inside the extruded aluminum case that the defective charger was housed in.I might add more info once I am done with the installation. This unit is designed for use with lead-acid batteries (liquid or gel-type).
